I am not agree with this.It purely depends upon the student's knowledge. If a person has studied from reputed college but he does not have the knowledge, then it is not beneficial for him to refer his college.

well but i think that in the starting phase of our professional life the college name matters from where we did the last degree. when you are being recruited for the first time without any experience then the college name of yours plays a great role.

actually the education system is greatly deteriorated, the temple of education is now a business. many people are opening colleges only for money and investment and follow cost cutting procedures like the businesses. they should understand that this is someone's career not a revenue building business.

I am 50 years old professional.when I need to hire a candidate for our firm, we generally look at the caliber, working ability and the inclination of the candidate towards the work. With other factors like scoring ,other activities, one tends to look at the University from which a candidate got passed out. I don't think any body would look into the college in particular. Even a candidate is good and capable,he will definitely will be given a chance irrespective of the college from which he/she passed out as it is the mutual need. A firm requires a good candidate as a candidate requires a good firm. I know many of my friends who passed out from ordinary schools and colleges but today they are placed very well and they have climbed the ladder very smoothly. Some of the them are Engineers and they are really holding excellent position. So in conclusion I would say that, instead of cribbing about the college, it is better to concentrate on the preparation for facing an interview and since you are the best judge about your caliber, try to up date it as per the requirements. If you are really talented and have required qualities then no body can stop you getting a good job! Be positive and work hard, success with come to you all by its own! All the best! Thanks for initiating a nice discussion!

Reputation in school does not really matter much, if u have good grades. That's what most companies are working for. If not, why the need to study so hard to earn good grades, when reputations really matter that much? Take your peers for example, some are always partying around, yet they have good grades and also being recruited by good companies.

but i think only the grades do not matter. if you are from a top university even with less grades you will be preferred against someone with a less popular college but much higher grades than you.

I am also a b.tech final year student so i will also be graduating very soon. I don't think think that the reputation in collect or of college have any affect on our job. They just see your knowledge, attitude and the way you see other things. So never worry about this just improve those three things. Happy mylotting. Regards. Harry.

well apart from your knowledge, suppose you are going for a on campus placement where your college is not eligible, then what would you do? doesn't it depends on college?

Indeed very important. Because when you apply for a job and you present you're resume, the interviewer or the company is only interested in the college/university name and they don't care on high school nor elementary. Theirs a plus factor also if you were graduated from a famous institution and have a very good grades. Regards, Bushin

yes and so with a reputed college you have better chances to excel as the college name will always reflect in your CV. but on the other side also a bad reputed institute can create problems for you.
