Some people breed small animals as food for their pets. For example, owners of Oscar fish tend to breed worms, guppies, mollies, and goldfish to feed the Oscar. Those owners of snakes or other reptiles breed hamsters to feed their dear pet. Do you think it is cruel to do so? Some people feel very sorry when they see the small fish trying to hide from the big fish, and the hamster running away from the snake. However, others feel that it is part of nature. Since nature endows the snake to eat small creatures, they are right to feed the pet its natural food. It is true that in nature, big fish eats small fish, and snakes and other predators eat small creatures. However, I find it is cruel for me to offer the live animals and fish as food. Come to think of it, we also partake in the meat of animals smaller and bigger than ourselves. Most of us feel no guilt in eating chicken, pork, beef, sharkfin, fish, mutton and other meat. What about you? What is your view on this.

i am very extreme in this subject and most people don't agree with me... i think that the human being should not kill any animal, at all and, of course, not eat animals or not breed animals to be food for others. every creature who is born should live its life without any action from our side. people are commiting so many crimes against animals because it is allowed...

Hi Erez, while I think it is very cruel to breed animals for consumption, either for food or bigger animals, I would not go to the extent of saying that it is a crime. I think in some circumstances, such as people in very cold places, they just have to kill animals for food for survival. I just hope that everyone can stop eating meat or reduce the intake of meat. It is such a waste of food since we have to feed the animals, then to kill the animals. If we eat directly from the sources, as in fruits and vegetables, we would have needed much lesser food for the whole planet.

I think there is some cruelty here. As soon as you begin to breed a species at home, you rather not directly be the agent of that specie annihilation! Imagine going to a pond you have made for small fish that you fed for months to their maturity and then suddenly you are fishing them to be eaten!

Hi Academic, I agree with you. There is a certain pride to breed fish at home. It is a joy to see the mother fish laying eggs or giving birth to a few hundred babies. I do not like the idea that I breed fish in order to kill them. I do not mind selling them away, but killing them is a separate matter.
