I am a Registered nurse. Been through alot from this course when I was college and all I wished about was to be a Registered nurse and work abroad. But, it was also only after I passed and started looking for jobs that I realized that there is no vacancies anymore. There are for those that have backers but for someone like me there is nothing. I have to move on since I have a daughter I have to support. So, I applied and was hired to work as a technical support agent in one of the BPO company in our country. "A call center agent"..... I always loved typing into the computer, organizing things, solving problems and all that.I was not able to survive the probationary period though because of the high demand of the job.. I landed another job and that is an online office job. I like office work. Always enjoyed it.. We have a business back in our hometown and I also was able to manage it for a while it was exciting... Knowing I have all these experiences, I hope I just took a different course, in order, that way I may be able to add that experiences in my resume and be bale to use that as one of my skills in applying to another country.

I also feel the same way clouds0327. I was confused with what course I wanted to take up. I had so many things in mind. I wrote different courses for each college or university I applied before and I ended up in a nursing school. It was one of the top nursing universities though, but with the kind of situation here in our country, it doesn't really matter that much anymore. It's really frustrating. I haven't really tried applying for other jobs. I honestly don't feel that confident in doing other tasks. Now I'm torn with pursuing something I'm really interested at like starting a home-based business or just continue searching for a nursing job no matter how long it takes. It's really hard to make a choice right now, it's hard to give up all my hard work in college plus the money spent by my parents and they really wanted me to pursue it. But for me, I'm no longer happy with pursuing it. If my parents won't support my plan of starting a small home business, then I need to take a risk of doing it all by myself and using my few savings which I saved up from my allowance when I was still studying just to pursue it. That's really hard. I hope I'll be able to make the right decision and get over with this frustrating situation. Well, good luck to your endeavors. =)

i could have taken a course in accounting but was not able to because i was a late enrollee. i landed in an engineering course. concurrently, i work not as an engineer but one that is involved in the quality management systems. it was not really that big a difference with my work as an engineer but this is more about documentation and implementation.
ask if i am wishing i took a different course, the answer is no. what we have in life is what we have to nurture. it is how we use our present resources that define us. what matters always is how we deal with the hurdles.

Oh that was hard. I am currently taking nursing as my course and I am afraid that someday there is a possibility that I will end up to other work. You know what I mean. If I am going to graduate I want to be a nurse in the hospital, I want to use my skills and all the things that I have learned. I think it would be very hard for me because there are lots of unemployed nurse in my country. Now, I am thinking if I made the right choice. Before, I was thinking of shifting to another course but now I have nothing to do because I am already graduating. If i have given a chance again, i will not take this course. I should have taken the course that I really want.

I have a degree in computer science. I also have a degree in business management. In this area that I have moved to after being away for 30 years, I have actually been told that I am over qualified. I ended up going into sales for a few years and did really well. Then I was self-employe using my education and past experience. As the economy went downhill, I was forced to look for other interests as far as work, but with my grandchild and 85 year old mom, I can't go much further than to my computer

I discovered my passion a little late.I took up Information Technology in college.two years into the course I realized I don't really like it.I am not really good at logical thinking and adept with technical stuff, but I finished it for the sale of my parents.now,I realized what I wanted to be really is a fashion designer/chef/businesswoman.yes,I treat them as one.I am quite ambitious, aren't I?still,I won't give up on my dreams.

That's the spirit. I do believe our career cannot be dictated we must choose depending on our interest. Sad thing is, a lot of us realize it after making a different decision or after many years.. SAD

Well...
So many times I think like you but I am not in your position. Even I choose some thing to do which I won't say ...but after completing one year I left that I feel some time that I should have been there. But I never regret for what ever decision I took and choose this field where I am. Regreting for some of our old decision can never let you back in that time where you get to choose again ...but still we get chance to make a new decision to grow our interest in current field more and more and try to improve ourself to prove some thing...and I think decision like this only can help you further or it may be you choose to change the field and again you would regret in future for this decision also...
At every corner of our life we get to choose from two different thing and we choose one even taking a way onward or backward...we never know what is going to be give good result for ourself ...but we should try not to choose that option for which there can be chance to regret in future ...that's I believe...
Now you must think what decision you have to take for which you would not feel regret in future and go with that ... it would be nice for you ...
Wish you nice future ...
Thanks...

oh i feel your burden... i wish you would be able to find your place in the health industry. there is no need to feel bad... sometimes things happen they really do and what we expect does not turn out to be what we think will be. just stay where you are, know what you want and work hard to achieve it...

I should have taken a creative writing course and started writing when I was young or gone into cooking. Now with writing, I am a self-learner and my philosophy is I will read the instructions after I try. I was persuaded to do office work and I never could find a good paying job. I would have been better also as a cook or a chef as I have a creative flair about me.
I did want to do mission work as a nurse or a teacher, but I was not good at chemistry or math.
I have no idea why you could not get the job you wanted and then found out you loved the job you had to take If you always loved office work and if you could have gotten a nursing job, you would be overjoyed if you were at the head desk, giving orders, then I am glad for you,
You have to be honest and not say I love my new job when you were just saying it to make others not feel sorry about you,

I could just imagine how difficult it most be trying to look for any type of employment now days in our economy, and I know how fraustrating it can be when you have a family to support and you can't find a job. Luckily I have been very fortunate with my job and I thank god as well as pray that I have this job that I can go to everyday. I also work in an office enviornment, the only thing I hate the most is answering the phone. I am just greatful that I don't have a to deal with customers, I personally don't have the patience.

Its really hard to land a job for that course now a days because of a very stiff competition. I suggest you think on the positive side. Since you are already license try to seek a job in company's who have their own nurse just to have an experience or any closely related job. I've known of some, who really wanted to work abroad started only as a caregiver as their stepping stone and after a year or so they were able to land a job using their using their degree. Now if ever you do not agree with this suggestion then i think its better to start your own business here in order to be able to support your kids since as you have mentioned you have tried to manage your family business and it works and the way I see it you also have interest in business. So Good Luck
