i also wore a uniform during my school years, including college. we had wash days though. on wednesdays and saturdays, we can wear civilian clothes, we also have a dress code though. back then, i though it was a pain to wear uniforms, that it would be cooler if we can wear jeans and shirt when we go to school. but thinking back now, it was okay that we all had to wear a uniform. it gets tiring of thinking what to wear everyday. plus, uniform kind of makes everyone equal, at least in clothes.

If it causes students to feel interchangeable, like nameless cogs in a machine, then I don't approve. Of course, not having the expensive clothing competition with other kids would be a huge plus.

I have always find them useful as I don't need to bother thinking what clothes to wear and everybody would be wearing the same thing at school. A little alterations might be possible, skirt length for girls perhaps but, every student would still look the same.
If we didn't have uniforms, I guess my mom would always have to wash clothes more. (^_^")
They also provide better recognition but, that works like a double edged sword. Knowing that you are a student, travel fare would be discounted but, those who intend to do no good, like snatching or stealing things, can easily distinguish their targets.
Uniforms also makes students practice discipline. Wearing something that needs to be neat each school day is a good habit to get use to. They don't want it to get dirty, perhaps they only have a few uniforms or their parents would be disappointed to see stains or marks from pencils or pens. It would be quite embarrassing if one would get caught wearing the same uniform due to some recognizable stain.
Well, those are my thoughts on the subject (^_^ )

My daughter goes to a public school in our county that has a uniform dress code whereby the students have to wear a polo shirt (or school logo t-shirt) and khaki, black or navy bottoms. I really think this is a great thing because it saves a lot of hassle in the morning when she is getting ready for school. In addition to this, I also really like it because of the fact that she is able to wear what she has and not feel like she is competing with the other kids to look the best in the school.

well you were lucky than me because until now in college we still do wear uniforms and i dont like it!!ever since i dont understand the idea of having to wear school uniforms. i envy other nation like the us that they dont have to wear uniforms. for me its better to wear clothes that fits your personality and not having seeing everyone else wearing the same clothes as you do!!
