I quit the call center job. I chose sleep instead of money. And you?

I really cannot take the graveyard shift. It is very difficult for me to sleep at daytime since I have 2 daughters to attend to. Do you think it's worth the compensation, compared to being sleep-deprived?

I think you made a good decision frenzylady!
I am in a BTO/BPO industry and we have 3 shifts. Fortunately I am in the day shift which some of my colleagues are dying to have. Although they have additional incentives for being in the mid shift or grave yard shift, I am not envious of them at all. You see, I can sleep and wake up at the same time with my family. Unlike if I would be at a different shift, I would be up when they are asleep and sleep when they are awake. I just don't have that much energy to play with my son since I have to catch up on sleep. There are just some things in life that money can't buy.

Well, I am just starting this new career as an associate for a banking back office, just more than a month. So far, I don't have a problem because the shift is from 9pm-6am so it is still easy for me to travel. The compensation is not so big because I don't have any BPO experience, but I believe it is more than I deserve. I hope I can stay with this job for the longest time possible. =)

That's probably for the best, then. I've had a job that started at between 4:30 and 5:30 AM and then a second job that I'd have to work at until 7pm-8pm and it just ended up being too much for me, that early-morning job. I couldn't get my hours straight either because I had commitments to my 1st job in the afternoon and evening. It took me 6 months to decide that it was not do-able, and the money just wasn't worth how crazy I was going!

If you have no choice but to work in Graveyard why not it's to support your family like here in Vancouver peopel really works at night , I did that for long time ago . No worries people really work at night as you are , you bet you will be use to it . Don't waste time it precious.
