Have you/would you try the new E-cig? http://rodutobaccotruth.blogspot.com/2009/07/fda-crusade-against-e-cigarettes.html It is an elctronic cigarette that runs on batteries, no real fire. It produces vapors so you can do it anywhere. It has nicotine in it, so can meet the addiction with out the mess and smell. I believe that it is a little cheaper than purchasing cigarettes. We currently roll our own cigarettes but are looking at the e-cig, for health, money and mess reasons. Have you or would you try it? My mother and brother have both switched over and have stopped regular cigarettes altogether. They were both chain smokers.

My sister bought an e, but she hasn't stopped smoking. If she had, I might have considered it. But right now, it just feels like a gimmick. With your Mom and brother's success...maybe I'll consider it again.

I think it depends on the strength of the E. The first couple were not strong enough, they would not work.

A friend of mine mentioned trying this.. but I don't think it worked for her. I am a firm believer that cold turkey is the best way to go if you want to quit.. but you have to REALLY want to. I did it once, and it wasn't easy. I stayed quit for 4 months.. but hubby still smoked and it's not easy to be an ex-smoker living with a still-smoker... all it took was a really bad day and I went back to smoking again. I want to quit again.. but I'm terrified of the stress and anger I'll feel for the first week or so. I remember it all too well. It's not so much breaking the habit.. because once I set my mind to do something I do it and nothing can stop me or break my determination.. but right now my family does not deserve me to be snapping at them just because I'm so frustrated from lack of nicotine. If you're interested in quitting a website that helped me out was www.whyquit.com it promotes quitting cold turkey, and you'll see why if you check it out.

They make different strengths. The first couple my mom got would never work for me, but a new one she has is very satisfying. I am not necessarily looking to quit but I am sick of the mess and smell.

No, not likely. I don't think it works and I wouldn't want to pay for it. At least not at this time.

As I answered to another question like this a couple of days ago, I was a smoker for 6 years and planned on being one until I got pregnant. However, I got a horrible cough a few weeks ago and I couldn't smoke properly for many days in a row. I would only get a little bit of smoke in my mouth for the taste and the whole habit (holding it in my hand and using it). Now don't feel like smoking again! I only smoke with coffee and drinks. I have kinda forced myself to start again but I just don't like it that much anymore. If I still had my old smoking habits I would perhaps try the electronic. But now it just doesn't seem to be that useful for me. Plus, in my country there's supposed to be a ban everywhere but we still smoke at coffee shops and bars/clubs, as a protest against the law, so it's not really a problem there.

I am terribly sorry, I did not see the other discussion. Thank you for responding anyway. Understandable if you already quit. Good for you!
