How far would you go?

To be a guinea pig. For clinical trials. At what point do you allow science to mess with your body. Is there a dollar amount? Would you participate in certain studies and not in others? Or would you not allow it at all?
Where are your boundaries?

One of my cousin's, who was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 10, volunteered to be a guinea pig for decades (when he was old enough to make the decision). If asked if he'd do it again, he would tell you "yes". He made enough money to put him through college, some of the meds actually worked and so far, there have been no long-term side effects from his participation. I would certainly consider it, if faced with an illness/disease with no cure. I'm thinking some kinds of cancer and Alzheimer's and Parkinson's and...

No! I would never be so free to offer myself for clinical trials, especially here in Africa

I have done things I would not necessarily choose to do, just to keep a roof over my children's and my heads. I had to inhale carpet chemicals doing market research. I would not do it again.
