My friend use the same excuse to get his way out

A friend went to fishing last week, on his way home, he exceed the speed limit at the local road, and the police stop him. He told the police that he thought it was 55 still, because the previous section was in 55, he didn't aware of it, and he was in a hurry to pick up his son from the babysitter. He implore the police officer to give him another chance, and he would slow down. The police officer has to check his record, and he simply wrote him a warning. He told me that he use the same excuse more than couple of times, sometimes work, and sometimes didn't work. I told him, he done a pretty job, and that might save him some trouble and money.
