I think fans of the Beetle will be pleased to see this spy release of the next generation Volkswagen Beetle.
Having driven the classic Beetle before I must say that it is a very good car and I have to agree that it does have its shortcomings cramped rear seats, limited cargo space and of late sub-par safety ratings. But, I just beg to differ where feel and experience is concern.
I liked the new design and if I might add is really quite close to a Porsche. Although, I must say that a 170-bhp 2.5-liter 5-cylinder engine with a choice of 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission is simply no where near. I think you have to admit that the design and the usability here is just sufficient.
What do you think?

puccagirl,
The Beetle is indeed a fun car and the design is simply lovable.
I think this model has indeed come a long way and I hope that they do not stop this line at all.

Yea I've seen the photo in a site too. I feel it has some elements of the Scirocco in it but overall, the design's great. I'm not that much of a Beetle fan but I like the design. It has come out of the beetle's 'shell' and the designers have incorporated a low sloping roof type of streamlined design, which is the more modern design for hatchbacks, SUVs and MPVs.

For me I am personally a huge fan of the classic Beetle, not so much the new Beetle. My husband and I were lucky a couple of months ago in that we were able to acquire a Beetle that we are going to restore to factory condition. I'm really looking forward to that project because of the fact that it is something that I've always wanted to do.
I would take a classic Beetle over a new Beetle any day of the week, but I will admit that this newest generation does look quite nice.
