So far I am doing quite well. However no one else is! All the people to the north of me left early yesterday many without any sales. To the south of me are very few sales. In fact I am doing so well that my friend even brought rice bags and has sold most of them and was going home to make more last night! I think the difference is that I have unique things. To the south of me four of the booths are selling about the same things!! Those towels that hang off the cupboard handles...hot pan holders..baby things.....etc! I have paint cans that are decorated in snowmen....wreaths made of starlight mints...victorian Christmas cards....candy sticks....kleenex boxes covered in Christmas paper....my books and framed poetry. No one else has anything like I have. I have been saying this for a long time....get something different on the table and you score! Are any of you doing Christmas craft sales?

Hiya Jill,
Well sales no but I have plenty of other work to do. However getting down to this I am so glad that you are making Sales. You really do have a different Stall can I call it that? As I am not sure if that´s what you set up your different Items on.
Those items sound really wonderful too did you put them in a Photo I have not seen one but will look for it just in case I missed it.
I also hope the other People do well in their Sales also. Life is getting so hard for these kind of People. What with a License for this that and the other.
Our little Markets have been forced to go to an Industrial Estate right out of the way of most People would you believe.
Keep those Sales coming and going. xxx

Hiya Jill,
Hope you do manage to keep going. Yes there are many like that. The trouble is they all sell the same things too. However they are not very good and they have not made these things themselves either.
As to them moving on and selling different items I think that they might eventually get the idea.
It´s so sad for me to see the Police make Women get off from sitting on the Ground in the Summer trying to make a living it´s just not fair they do no harm to anyone and they are not treated very well either.

I love to hear a good, success story. I agree about making unique items. You have such a great imagination and are so talented, am not surprised you did well at the craft sale. Am not doing any Christmas craft sales this year. Have plenty of stock in our house but didn't bother to do anything with my things. I am so bad! Congrats on a good weekend.

I am glad you are doing so well. Creativity and variety certainly help. I have not done any craft show this years. I called several places recently, and I was either to late or they cost way too much. I wish you continued success.

That wreath looks really pretty and delicious, I'd love to buy or even make my own. I use to make things and tried to sell them with my artist friend, but she was the only one to sell anything..:( I guess though I like making things, I can't make anything people would buy, so CONGRATS, you obviously have talent and I am happy you are doing so well this year..

The only sales I do over the holidays is Avon. Not as creative as the items you make. I bet the kleenex boxes are really neat. I hope the sale went as well as you wanted it to.

That's great Jill! I think you're right. I know I always look for unique things for gifts. Something that stands out is far more likely to be sold than the same 'ol same 'ol. I feel a little sorry for the other people though. It's got to be discouraging to put such effort into something with no sales to show for it. But yay for you!

Awesome! You are so right with your approach...offer something different than everyone else offers, and everyone will stop by your table. And then everyone else at the show who isn't at your table will wonder why your table is so busy and they wander over. People see others making purchases from you, and it kind of validates your creations, and they don't even think twice about buying something they like because they see others buying from you.
Go to enough shows, and you see the same items over and over, done in many different ways. But the vendors that do the best are those that sell to niche markets, or those that have something that no one else has.
Most people go to a show and have no idea what they want to buy. Show them something new, something that grabs their attention and you've got them thinking..."wow, this would be perfect for...."
Good for you for thinking outside of the box! I hope your next show is just as successful...and thanks for sharing, it's good to hear some positive in this economy.

Good for you!
I am not crafty at all.. but I agree.. I typically walk right past tables that have all that boring stuff. I like to buy crafts when I can afford to, but I don't use dishtowels, don't have babies, don't want pot holders. I look for new or interesting things. The last craft sale I went to I bought some pillows for the kids.. and a head band for my daughter. It was cool. The headband was a plain thing, but the cover was removable and reversable. She really loved it, unfortunately one of her brothers broke it. I hope that lady is back at our fall festival next year so I can get my daughter more headbands.

Hi jill! You go girlfriend! You know what sells and that's all
that is important! Nevermind about the others. Let them find out
on their own! They also probably aren't as "crafty and "skilled"
as you are. You really have quite a rare and unique talent. I have
seen alot of your work over the last few years and been to many
fairs and tag sales. If you were here you would totally "clean up"!
People want unique and different and quality! You have all that
to offer and more! Wish you able to come my way!

I am so happy for you. I was hoping that you would do we and you did. The crafts you made do sound unique and this is where you gained the advantage over the other people who were selling. Although of course I wish that they had done well too. Many congratulations and I wish you every success wherever you exhibit

You are so right! We find things in the forest. We take it home and apply a couple of coats of polyurethane. It brings out the grain and preserves it. Everything is small enough you can put it in your suitcase. You can take it to your relative. It's amazing the numbers of people who appreciate art, natures art. Something we make at a cost of $10, people buy for $250!
Anyone can buy stuff by the gross and then try to resell it at a profit. Unique is unique!
