If you could have chosen where to be born, where would it be?

Many people get asked the question "If you could live anywhere, where would it be?" but my answer to this would be mostly decided on language because there are many countries I would like to live in, but don't know enough of the language to live there. So a better question would be "If you could have chosen where to be born, where would it be?" I was blessed to be born in a country where problems of poverty, health care and discrimination are nothing to complain about compared to many other countries in the world. Although, its hard not to think about whether life would be better in another country. I personally wouldn't have minded if I was born in Japan because being half Japanese, I have experienced a lot of trips to Japan and have been accustomed to the culture there and so far it seems like a pretty nice place to live. Also, I am a bit of a fan of anime so it would be nice to watch it without having subtitles. =) Although, I wouldn't want to miss the hilarious british comedy that we have over here so I'm not sure if I would choose to be born anywhere else. So, if you could have chosen where to be born, where would you choose and why?

Uhmmm.. i like to be born where my partner was born so that i would not spend so many years wasting my life and time with my ex-boyfriends. It would be so nice if i met her earlier, be fiends, spend time together and share some good memories. If only i was born in her place she would never meet her ex's and shed tires to them. She could be happy as now.

Well, yeah! I would never be like this if we met earlier, probably it won't be hard for me to know my preference. Actually, she's the reason why i finished my degree, she made me realize how important time is. If we met earlier we won't last long because of our culture difference and outlook in life.=p

Aww that's really sweet and a very sweet idea. But you never know what life would have turned out like if you had met each other earlier. You probably wounld't have had the same experiences and therefore you may not be the same person as you are now so perhaps you two would be a completely different couple to how you are now. It may be really good that you both were born in different places because you were able to develop as individuals before you met each other and ultimately develop a closer relationship.

Yeah and if you do believe in fate, then that's probably a good example. If you hadn't met at that particular time of your life, things may turned out very differently so perhaps it was destiny that you're together now. (Please excuse the cheesy-ness =)

Well for me that would have to be England. You see maybe because me dream car is in england and because comparing to my country England is much better. Even better economy. By the way if you like to know my dream car is a lamborghini. In my country also the salary that i will receive will seem like i am being underpayed but if i lived in England the salary would be much better. And even though i wasnt born in England i still want to come and live there.

Oh right, I live in England yeah its a pretty nice place to live. But isn't the car company that makes Lamborghini Italian? It definately sounds Italian. But you can get Lamborghini's in various countries anyway. What country to you live in currently?

Yes it is it italian but i dont want to live in any italian country and i heard alot of Lamborghinis are in England. I also dont want to live somewhere when someone sees that car they know it is you driving it. The country has to have a number of them about the place anyway. So you live in england tell me if you see Lamborghini often? I live in Jamaica by the way.
15 Nov 10
Well I have to say that I have never noticed a Lamborghini ever but then again I normally travel with other people so I don't really pay as much attention on the other cars around me (also I don't drive). Which version of a Lamborghini would you want to get? Also, choosing to be born in a certain country just because of what cars are popular there seems to be a bit excessive, are cars a big hobby for you then? Oh cool, I don't really know much about Jamaica apart from Ja-maica'n me crazy! =)

I wanted to be born either in Korea or Japan.I loved their gadgets and fast internet connection.Internet connection in my country really sucks.

I live in Malaysia.Well,I meant to say faster because they never block P2P and constant speed throughout the day. Here, everything got blocked including torrents and P2P.Moreover,ISPs offer me a connection up to 4Mbps but when I download anything the fastest speed that I can get is 200Kbps.That doesn't worth the connection.
15 Nov 10
Oh where do you live? Whenever I go to Japan, I never actually notice a much faster internet connection than here but then again I'm not very observant in those sorts of things =)

Not only where, but when and what surroundings I want to be born in. I want to be born in the 1800s on a wealthy ranch in Wyoming in the western United States. I would be the go to person to deal in horses. A brother who is a successful attorney would be very handy.

True working ranches like there were back then don't exist much any more. The ones where the owner was there to work it too. Many ranches are owned by the wealthy from other industries. Then there is the horse industry, definitely a thing of the past.

Haha, oh right that's quite a specific answer you've given me. Why specifically this period?

I want to be born in America cause there are good service of medical and health at there. when baby was born, they will be take care of doctor, gorvenment and social. The social funds will pay fee healthy, the goverment will pay fee for his mother to feed him, and pay for him until 6 year-old. Therefor, his parent will rarely take care of buying milk and food for him.

All to true, only if the mother is single and broke. Most aren't. Some women take advantage of it, over and over again. Most Americans take care of their own children.

I think Italy is a beautiful place. I have seen the pictures in many hollywood and bollywood movies. I would love to visit the Venice. I wish I was born there. I love my place also but the other placeI like is spain. I like the language, the way they speak it. I watched Barbara speaking spanish in the movie "Kites". So spain is the pther place.
15 Nov 10
Yeah, I have been to Spain a couple times and my experiences there have been great. The weather is so much nicer than it is Englnad, the food is delicious and the scenery is beautiful. However my only criticism of it is that people were generally a bit more rude and there weren't many of those queues that I'm very familiar and accustomed to over here, people mostly pushed in. But overall, I wouldn't complain at all if I as born there.

Before when life is so simple, nothing to ask for we surely enjoyed where we really belong. We never expect life to be this complicated and competitive. You're right, for me, it's not where how would it be convenient to live, rather for me, I would choose based on language. To answer the question, I would prefer to be in place where English is the native language, for English is the business and international language. We can survive anywhere as long we can communicate and be understood.
15 Nov 10
I guess but English is by far not the most spoken language in the world. Also, nearly all developed countries learn English to a very high standard indeed, much better than to the extent we learn foreign languages which I find a bit ignorant. So choosing to be born in a developed country were English is not the native language would most definately allow you the potential to speak two, three or maybe four languages in countries like Holland. Also, I think the importance of English in the world is rapidly diminishing. China is growing more and more and I predict that not too far in the near future, we would all need to speak Chinese in order to survive in the world of business.

I'm honestly pretty happy where I am. If I had the chance to choose where I was born, I don't thin I'd change anything at all. We all go through issues growing up but that is how you learn. Just like the saying - You live and you learn!
15 Nov 10
That's a pretty positive comment =) Where do you live then?

Considering where I came from, and all the troubles I went through to get to where I am right now, I would say I wouldn't want to be born anywhere else. But, if money or academic struggles where no object, maybe I would have want to be born in a country where there is a lot of culture to be absorbed. Maybe somewhere in Europe like France, Italy, or Greece.
14 Nov 10
Yeah, France and Italy seem like very good places to live, they certainly have good weather, food and most importantly very beautiful languages they both have. Where did you live before you moved to Canada then and if you don't mind me asking, why did you move?

Given a chance to chose where to live, I guess it would be in Canada or Australia. I guess family is their priority there plus a more opportunity for works and lesser chance to live a hard life. But I believe that wherever we are born, God has a purpose for that. Each one of us a mission to fulfill where we are born. And that's what we have to find out. The reason why we think of living in other places is because we can see that those places are greater than where we are now. But who knows, those places we want to live in has a greater problem than where we are. So i guess, it is a matter of appreciation where God puts us, and let's make our living the best that we can . Have a nice day!
15 Nov 10
Yeah, I've always thought both Canada and Australia sounds like two very nice countries to live in. Do you know what mission you have been given to fulfill in where you live now?

USA would be the perfect spot for where I would want to be born. But being specific, I love my birth place which is in Chicago, Illinois. There is not a single city in the world where I would be better off, because the situations stemming from my birth onwards are a part of who I am. I cherish my family and friends there, and just as well love the place. There is so much capital and infrastructure there that I might even move there in the near future. Love is what makes my birth place stand out so much.
15 Nov 10
That's really nice that you feel such a strong connection with your birth place. Why did you move away from Chicago?

This is a very interesting question, if I had to choose were to be born would definitely have been Australia. I choose Australia because it seems like a beautiful place to live, also I would love to go see the Great Barrier Reef, it looks soo amazingly beautiful from the pictures I have seen. Also I love Kangaroo's, and would enjoy being able to see them practically anytime I want. Plus it just seems like an overall better place to live than compared to were I currently live (usa.)
15 Nov 10
Yeah Australia does seems to have a very different environment to most countries in the world and I would love to meet the animals that are only really inhabited in Australia like the Koala's and Kangaroos, they look really cute! =) The weather does also seem to be much better than over here in what seems to be rainland.
