Having good time management is necessary in life. Do you think so?

I have a friend in here in MyLot who asks for some advice of good time management the way I am doing it. I am a helpful person by nature so I would advice my friend to read my post here on how I do it. Personal time management skills are essential skills for effective people. People who use these techniques routinely are the highest achievers in all walks of life, from business to sport to public service. If you use these skills well, then you will be able to function exceptionally well, even under intense pressure. It is also necessary that you stick with your rules and do not deviate from it. I use to procrastinate before when I just graduated from college but I clearly know it will lead me to no good. I will not be a successful person with my career if I continue being like that. When I found a new job in the laboratory then I was really happy and told myself I will not screw up with this. I sleep early in the evening like 9:00 PM and wake up at 4:30 am. I prepare myself to go to work and leave the house always exactly 5:30am or before that. I will arrive at the pick up station of the service 15 mins after I got off my house. 10 mins of waiting our shuttle arrives to pick us all up. my work starts at 7am. During 15 minute breaks, I already take a big snack so that during lunch I will eat less and will still be able to take a short nap in the laboratory lounge for 45 mins. Then get up and start working again. I will arrive at home at 4:pm and do some personal stuff. cook, clean the house and watch TV or movies. Then will be able to sleep at 9pm again. It all seems routinary but life is just like that for me. During weekends, I will just sleep whenever I want and wake up whenever I want. Then do some household stuff. If you want to be organized then have an organizer with you and adhere to what you have set on that date and do not be impulsive to reschedule anything if it is unnecessary to do so. Yes! Having a good time management is really necessary in life. How about you guys, do you think it is?

Without good time management, everything collapses-our world and natural life is structured around time-you fail to observe time, your goals shatter-so I agree that time management is key to everything in life!

Yes, you have to stick to the plan that you've set up for yourself. It's the foundation of time management. If you can't follow your own plan then nine times out of ten, you won't be able to manage your time wisely.

I really agree with you that you must stick to it whatever you set up for yourself. Plus you must also be consistent with it. Stick to it now then go back to your same habit the next day. It will all be useless. Let us be spontaneous about making our own rules about time management. Thank you for the nice response and have a great day.

Yea I agree wholeheartedly. Just by looking at your daily routine, I can tell that you're a very organized person and you really like your job very much. Many people do not have good time management skills and thus, they screw it all up. Good time management will mean having more time for other things like sports, gaming and stuff. I also used to procrastinate last time but now I still have a little bit of this bad habit and I'm trying to change. 2010 is coming to an end in slightly less than one and a half months. I'll change all the bad habits man!

Yes Time Management is really essential in one's life and in many ways. The main benefit of effective time management is that it can drastically improve the quality of your life. Many of the frustrating situations can be avoided with effective planning and organizing techniques. When you have overcome frustration,it is lot easier to release full power of your creativity and productivity. Much unsatisfaction and anxiety comes from that you are not sure where you are going,or you feel like you are going nowhere.Effective time management includes smart goal setting techniques which will help you to realize where you are going and to see the optimal path there. It is seen that we are often burdened by subconscious guilt for those undone things we think we should have done. With effective time management you learn to over come procrastination and you learn to prioritize. This will keep you feeling that you did most of the important things you possibly could do.That makes you possibly could do.That makes you more confident and decisive in youe choices, leaving less space for guilt or unsatisfaction. The undone things circulating in your mind cost you much more time and energu that the things you have done or are doing. With effective time manage you get grganized and unclutter your mind from those energy drains of unhandled things and unfinished. You will experience much higher level. At last i will conclude that with Time Management we learn how to organize our time more efficiently and how we will get more time for making progress or enjoying life.

I would agree to everything that you have stated here. Well it also comes with your own creativity of how will you stick with your own plans of managing your time. For that to be effective you should do a really doable or executable plan of time management. If you are successful with all that then you will have balance in your life and able to do other stuff as well aside from your work that can add up to your productivity and will put you more successful and get rewarded for it. Aside from that, you will also have more time for your family and yourself which is also the same importance with your job or career as well. Thank you for this great response. Have a great day.

Hi dear, It looks nice. Having a planning in mind and implement wisely is the best way to manage things. In your case also, you know exactly how things to be done and allocate the time schedules as per the conveniences. I think you are so lucky that you can reach home so early and get good enough time for all your works. You reach in office at 7:00 and starts work. As this is the routine, when are you getting time for myloting and communicating people over here? For me, it is so strange that that you go to bed at 9:0 pm. In my case, some times I many not reach home at this time. If we have routine job and regular works and not having more assignments or anything like, the time management and works will cooperate. But there are people who are dealing with multiple jobs and various other kind of work within limited period. In such cases, I think they will priorities their work as per urgency and manage the things to get done with best efficient manner. For certain people, life balance may be a dream and it will never work out. Sharing the work with others and managing proper order in all the works also would help most of the works to get done in time so that we can find some excess time for our relaxation and rest. Regards, Thank-s

Wow! Thank you for commenting each of the things I have stated here in this discussion. Well yeah that was before like a year ago. I was like imprisoned in my own time management schemes. But that had worked for me and I am thankful for it. Right now since the past 4 weeks I have been just waiting for my work to start then I will be working again on the 22nd of this month. that would be on monday. I will be doing this time management thing again. As for what you have stated, Yes, those people dealing with various kind of work that makes their time limited will have a different time management scheme. They are the ones who should really adhere to this because they cannot afford to lose one of their jobs. All you have to do is just be organized and it is included with having a good time management. You have to set you priorities in doing what is firstly important. It will definitely pave its way to make them successful. they will also have lots of time for themselves and for their families.

Hey, dear, I totally agree with you that time management is very important in one's life. But sometimes I find it difficult to stick to the planned schedule, for example, I may hang on the internet rather than reading the books which I should have finished a month ago. And I find that time flies when you are surfing on the internet. How to get rid of this bad habbit? Looking forward to your reply and Have a nice weekend.

Thank you for the nice response. I would also admit that I am addicted surfing the net most of the times but I do have the self discipline that if it is time for me to go to bed and stop surfing then I should really sleep then or else I will really have a hard time the day after. Would I do injustice to myself then? I would think twice not to follow what I have imposed to myself then. Had a great relaxing weekend. I hope you will too.

Thank you for your kind reply. Yes, I think it's time for me to stick to my plan. Thank you again, then.

I wouldn't say it is necessary, but it makes it a lot more convenient! And as long as you have some time for yourself and you get your job done, you're doing well. A person without such skills would have a more difficult time, and most likely wouldn't do as much.

If it gives you the convenience in your life then it is that important. That is only in my own opinion though. It will definitely make a difference if you have a good time management in life as well as the self-discipline to stick with it. As you have said that that person without such skills will not be able to do as much compared to the ones who have it. It is most likely that these people who manage their time well are successful in life in general especially with their careers. Thank you for the great response and have a great day.

Certainly I do. Time management is essential much more if you want to be successful. Procrastinating is a bad habit. It really won't do good to anyone. We are in a busy environment, so if we don't know how to be organized, we would be left out in this world and would surely lead us to nothing. Time management, sense of responsibility, punctuality, and being organized are attitudesshould someone always have to be able to succeed in life.
• Philippines
18 Nov 10
I really do agree with you. It will really lead us to nothing. Plus if we cant be able to manage our own time then how much more if we are being given a bigger responsibility to manage something. Right? Thank you for a nice response you have posted. Enjoy the rest of the week.

Yes! Time management is very essential. But you know aaron... I am not sure if it is applicable in my job, there are always many paperworks to be done such that I really extend up to 9pm here. Does that mean I am not being efficient? Even my boss extends her office hours...
• Philippines
18 Nov 10
If it is making you extend your hours and your boss agrees with it then it is all in your favor. Overtimes mean extra income for you without you making yourself in a hassle doing all those paperworks to get finished. As for me the time management that would get involved with this is your punctuality and your time for your family then for yourself as well. You should know then how to balance your time. Thank you for this nice response and enjoy the rest of the week.

Maybe yes, though I'm not good at this case. I have a difficulty in managing my time. For instance, I sleep at the noon and work online at night. So, when I have to wake up at the morning to go to college, I'm still sleepy. That's very bad for me. I really want to manage my time better. Though it is sooooo hard for me. Especially in my youth time, time management is on the last place.
• Philippines
17 Nov 10
Well you should also have self discipline to stick on your everyday plans. I could not blame you if you wake up late in the morning to go to your university because you are working on your online jobs to add support on you. Enjoy your youth and you should balance everything. Thank you for the nice response and enjoy the rest of the week.

There really is a what so called TIME MANAGEMENT.And that can be done through writing your schedule and sticking into it. That's not that hard to have a time management. May I share or add this thought to what you have shared. Struggles are not actually with the time management but the ME MANAGEMENT. It's actually ourselves that must be disciplined. Time is always a 24 hour round the clock. It never changes. What needs changes and action is you and me, it's us. So even if you write down schedule but you don't follow it, time will just run but you were left nothing have done still. So it's ME MANAGEMENT. Have a nice day and hope i shared and added something worth reading. Thank you

It is interesting to see there are some people who would still ask – Why is time management important? As if the benefits aren’t obvious enough. Or I reckon they probably have not tried time management hence the benefits never occurred to them. Sometimes you may hear people complaining that there is no balance in their lives. Ever wondered maybe the reason is that they do not know how to manage their time? A possibility, maybe. One reason why is time management important is that it can put things into context for you. If you see the list of work you have and the things you need to do, then you will be forced to make tough decisions. Especially on what to spend your time on and how to spend your time. Whether it is a daily work list or a long-term career plan – time management keeps you on track. With your goals stated and time allocated, the likelihood of you staying within the boundaries you have given yourself is higher. Of course, do not be your own jury and judge. That means do not give yourself excuses when you start to procrastinate. Time management is a huge part of managing yourself. If you cannot manage time and won’t manage your limited resources, how do you plan to achieve your goals? I find that learning to manage time helps to discipline yourself. By now you should get a fairly good idea why is time management important. Once you start you will immediately feel its benefits. That will keep you going. Have a nice day...:)

I absolutely agree in all this. I already felt its benefits. We also need to be consistent about managing our time. I would like to add as well that if you are not able to manage your own time then if you will be given a bigger responsibility that is more vague than this then how can you be able to get successful with it right? You also have mentioned about balance. This is the term I have been searching for all the responses here and you nailed it. People are complaining that they already do not have time for themselves or with their family because their time is all consumed by their work. They may be some other factors that would be the reason but the biggest part of it is the lack of time management. Thank you for the great response as always. Have a great week.
