I am currently reading Dan Brown's The Malacca Conspiracy. It is set in the area of Singapore and mentions several places I have visited. It really adds to the joy of reading the story.
Do you like to read stories set in places you have visited?

I wish I could travel physically to those places I often read about. I've read a few books mentioning our country and the people as well and it gives you that little excitement. Hopefully, someday I can travel half of the places mentioned in the books I've read.

maybe that is why reading is so wonderful, we get to go places to which we will never get to go in the flesh!

I haven't found a book yet that had a place I have been. Probably because I haven't visited many places. But I like learning about a lot of places and it's cool when a book mentions one that I know a lot about. It's interesting when a book connects with something in your real life. I hope to travel and visit more places one day when my kids are grown.

I hope you can go too, nat, maybe to place you have already read about!

Nope. I prefer to read high fantasy novels that take place in made-up worlds. lol I'd love to visit the places I read about, but that's not really possible!
It is fun to read a book that takes place somewhere you've been, but I don't think it adds much to the story. I like reading books in exotic locations... like at the Renaissance Faire or on the deck of a cruise ship. Especially if you're reading something that takes place in a similar location... I think that adds to the experience.
