Dual active SIM facility - what are your choices?

There are lot of Dual SIM mobiles. I too have one, which is a China mobile. But, the problem is, when a SIM is engaged, the other SIM goes unreachable. (Lot of mobile manufacturers, don't tell anything about this. Only few manufacturers who have overcome this, are keeping us informed.) Is there any mobile which doesn't make the other SIM inactive, when one SIM is active? (Should be affordable. Anything around INR 2500 is OK. Bluetooth, Camera, GPRS preferred.)

Hi friend, I think, its better go for well reputed brands. Now the Nokia itself providing Dual SIM,standby mobiles. Nokia C1 has been launched in India, and has already god a good feed back. But its a switching type dual sim mobile. Nokai C2 is,i think,it has not been reached all around India. It has a Dual Sim standby facility, and, has all the features that you have mentioned above. Good Day.

For some reason, I hate Nokia mobiles. I don't know why. (Instead, I can say nokia mobiles don't impress me much, whatever feature they have.) Previously, I preferred Samsung mobiles, but after using one particular model, I got fed up with Samsung too. The present China mobile, I am much satisfied with their features, but the only thing I want extra, is, the active dual SIM. Many times I miss my friends' calls.

HaHaHa...I'm not alone. First thing that I hate with Nokia is their display. I had a very bitter experience with a particular model of Nokia. (That was given to me by the management, so I didn't have any choice over the model.) I just searched a contacted and pressed the 'dial' button. Instead of dialling the selected contact, the 'dialled numbers' list opened and the ring went to the 1st number in the list. It happened again and again. Finally, I selected the contact, went to 'Options' and selected 'Call'. This time, the ring went to the correct person. But the number was busy. Sometime later, again I checked the dialled numbers list, holy ****, this number was not there. Again I had to go the contacts list, and call the number through the menu. But, before even this experience, I didn't like Nokia. The above experience made me never turn towards Nokia. Also, I feel that they are pricing too much just for the brand name.

I too hate the Nokia Sets.... They are expensive and I cannot afford is one point and I know you would think - "Cat doesnt get the Grapes and calls them sour"! My wife and a Friend of mine are Nokia fans and each time they have an issue they run to the nearest Service Counter. What they do there? They make you wait to get the sets more damaged and then tell you that you have violated the "Terms of Warranty"...

Latest mobiles have this facility. I am using Orion 907 and it doesn't have this problem. You can check micromax or orion mobiles within your budget.

Performance is good. It even supports Wifi. So I can use without GPRS data plan using my wifi router. I don't much about karbon mobiles.

Hi Venky, Yes, I have heard of these dual Sim handsets. But never used any because I have only one sim card and I am not great when it comes to managing multiple SIMS or handsets(my earlier experience has taught me this). Anyways, AS for your question I have heard that the one from FLY (I forget the model Number) comes within 2500 INR and allows both sims to be active no matter which one is in use. For the other it says - User Busy as normal single sim phones do when you are on a call. If I remember correct the pricing was between 1750 to 2500 (depending on the features - Bluetooth, Camera and others). I had a Fly Single Sim Phone that was perfect choice for me but it was stolen while returning from Hyderabad (on the train). I have been using a very ordinary LG cell since then because I do not want my cell phone to get stolen again. Cheers, theSids.

Hi Venky, I think the retailer will tell you the facts - I think most people dont ask such questions to them and even they hesitate in telling as they are not that technical themselves. My approach would be to read the manual and ask them for a trial - I do not know if they would have an unsealed set for trial purpose but the One I purchased was after a demo as at that time FLY was a new Company and and they had one there. The other way would have been to ask a friend who already uses this set but I doubt as this set is not that much in vogue and it would be available with friends... Hey buddy, thanks for selecting my response here as the best one for this discussion. :) Cheers, theSids.

Yeah, I have also listened about dual SIM facility in new cell phones, but I ll not be going to use it, because, it is already hard for me to use one SIM and for two SIMS, I am not sure that how I ll manage them. I think one SIM is fulfilling my requirement, so I should go for another SIM, It ll be good for businessmen who needs to remain in contact with their customers through mobile phone, other wise for a person like me, it has no value because I have not as much contacts...:) Have a nice day...:)
