one time a friend of mine who was also an education teacher once said that "late bloomer" is just a generous term most people use so that parents wont be hysterical or so much worried, but it actually gives them a false hope. she said that there is no such late bloomer because if this kind of person will be assessed then this person will fall on a category whether a learning disabled, mentally retarded, has an emotional/behavioral disorder and the like.
i disagreed in her argument and so did my other guy friend. i believe there is a late bloomer as in really separate from those categories she meant to say.
what is your opinion regarding this matter?

I believe you are right hushi. Those types of children with disability physical or mental, their parents should be getting a hint of their problem much earlier. I mean they need not worry about their children being in the late bloomer category, they should already know if they are having problems and whether they are actually late bloomers or not. My younger brother, he was short, I am an year and a half older than he, and i was growing consistently. Then one day, he suddenly grew taller than me.
