How do you start the church meetings

Do you start right on schedule or do you wait until a sizable number is seated before starting? How do you start and who starts the meetings? Do you start with prayers or with a hymn? In the church I am attending, it really depends on what kind of meeting. Prayer meeting obviously starts and ends with prayers. In the children's meetings, we usually start with a song and end with a prayer. The bread-breaking meetings mostly starts with a hymn but those who come ahead of time would normally first pray. We also have meetings in the homes where some meetings start with having a meal together. Though we have elders and deacons, everyone is of equal standing as brothers and anyone can start the meetings.

Hi 2Timothy. We have church through the net so we always start right off the bat by telling The FATHER thank you for letting us serve him. Then we jump right into the teaching of The LORDS word. Chapter by chapter and verse by verse. Then after hearing the word of The LORD the teacher reads letters from viewers and explains the bible to us. Why this verse or that verse says this or that. It is only the word of The LORD no talking about anything except God. http://www.shepherdschapel.com/index.htm This is our teacher of Gods word.

It seems to me that what you are referring to is more of a personal bible-study time than a church meeting.

Hi 2Timothy. It is a bible meeting but we are taught the word of the LORD the whole time. So it is a church meeting. Church shouldn't be a social meeting where we are not taught the word of the LORD the whole time we are there. Chapter by chapter and verse by verse. I would rather be taught the word of the LORD for an hour then to hear a few verses of the word of the LORD and then hear what happened in so and so's life for the rest of the hour I am in a church meeting. Church has forgotten about why they are open when you are teaching Gods word you need to stick to Gods word not something about so and so. Don't get me wrong I believe in a good church that sticks to Gods word for the time you are there after being taught I believe that you can socialize with people but remember we are here to spread Gods word to others. Happy Thanksgiving!

Most of the time we wait first for the other members to arrive, eventually we decided to start the meeting on time regardless of the attendance. The bible said "when two or three are gathered in My Name, I am in the midst of them" The usuall flow of the meeting starts with joyful songs, opening worship/prayer, bible reading, sharing, offering, announcements then closing prayer and joyful songs ;)

In our church we start and end with hymn. But if its only a small group meeting we do it with prayers. Sometimes it depends on the celebration that our church have. On my opinion, it doesn't matter how many you are, even if there are only 2 persons who attended the meeting, its fine. As long as you are gathered for Him, the Lord's presence will always be there.
