when I think of how much money proffesional athletes make no wonder it cost you an arm and a leg to go to see some of your favorite athletes play. Sure Jeter has been a great athlete and team guy and all around great guy. He has had some great seasons in the past. At 36 years old he is asking for at least a 5 year contract. Has he really contibuted that much to the Yankee organization over the last couple of years? Yes he is definatley the face of the Yankees but what about Arod. These guys want be around for long I say give him the three year contract and start looking down the road.

Hey it is the New York Yankees! They can afford to pay players way to much money! It makes mae angey! The Yankees are a large market team. My team the Brewers aren't. They can't afford to get players like Jeter! It sucks and I wish MLB would have a darn salery cap! It would help balance things out! MLB is the only major sport to have one and it pisses me off! I am, so sick of this and hope someday it changes

I really like this topic...New York Yankees? Well, I'm avid fan of this team especially AROD and DEREK...I love seeing them in their pinstripe uniform... Talking bout that MEGA deal, I still believe that Derek is one of the best short stop in the league despite of his age..I still had have the feeling that he can match and even surpass the performance of other elite players in MLB...Please people out there lets give him a chance to perform at his best.

As much as I love Derek Jeter and he has been the face and captain of the Yankees no one is worth that much money. That is totally ridiculous amount of money for any one person or team for that matter. I think its being a bit greedy. Its not like he won't have a job after retiring from the game. The sports shows will love to have him has a commentator.
