Hi again dear friends. Today, wife went again in the hospital to process some more documents in relation to the surgery of Zayzay, which is already scheduled on December 6. Tomorrow will be his 2D Echo (Echocardiogram) session. I know Zayzay is a brave kid and all of us hope and believe there will be no problems whatsoever, when he gets tested tomorrow. Personally, I do not know what this test is all about and how does it feel to be tested. Have you been 2D Echo tested? Can you possibly explain what this test is done and how does it feel to be in a 2D Echo Lab? Is this some kinda scary procedure?

A 2d echo is a form ultra sound to check the heart, a colleague whose been through it claimed that it's painless, it's just like a normal ultra sound done on pregnant women to see the child inside the womb, it's just that 2d echo targets the heart. However it could take up to 45 minutes for the procedure to be finished. So i guess you only have to worry on keeping the child's patience while the ultra sound is undergoing.

I have never heard of such a test so I am not sure of what it is. I hope that all goes well. I hate to hear of a child having to go through tests and surgeries. I know it is the only option sometimes but it is so sad to see a sick child.

hi neildc I have had it and its p ainless , you have your heart checked again to make sure you are okay f or surgery and you are hooked up to s ome wires, I knoe ZayZay has been thrpugh the wire thing before, then a large machine tells the doctor if zayzay heart is up to the surgery. there is no pain involved just a procedure that lasts about forty minutes. you lie there all warm and comfy and I fell asleep lol lol No I do not see anything scary for a little boy with this at all. He might be even interested in seeing the patterns given off by his heart.

I am not one hundred per cent sure because I have never had one done but I think 2D Echo Lab is a type of ultrasound which is never too intrusive nor painful. I hope I’m right. It is difficult to keep children focussed on these types of tests because they tend to get restless but they are sure worthwhile doing. All the best, hope the results are good ones...

hi paula. yes, i have just talked with my wife over the phone. and she told me everything went so fine with zayzay during the test. the doctor said his heart is great but then he said, he hopes that the surgery will be done very very soon as he knows patients with sleep apnea, their hearts are really at stake. but we hope nothing will happen to zayzay before the surgery. the doctor also said, he was really a brave boy during the test...

Neil, I know how anxious you are, any parent would be if their child would have to undergo surgery. But do relax. Take sometime to walk the byroads of Mactan and meditate. Talk to God and tell Him to take extra care of Zayzay. Have faith in the doctors. They know what they are doing. Before you know it, Zayzay will be playing in your home again as if nothing happened.

I've had echo cardiograms and they were no different from any other tests. I doubt if your son is effected by the testing any more than eating his breakfast. Talk to the person or persons performing the testing and make sure that there is no need for you to be in close proximity of your son. Do not fear.
