Why do people lie?

People lie for many reasons, Some people lie to protect themselves from getting in trouble, or to cover up inapproiate behavior that is morally wrong of criminal. for example, a teenager will lie to his parents about what time he came home, because he knows he will get into trouble for coming home late. he tries to get away with the behavior, because he feels that he can fool his parents.
People lie to protect other people or playing safe, Some people lie to protect other people from learning the truth because they are afraid what will happe, how an invididual will react when he learns the truth, for some reaons people need to lie in other to accomplish something or to get away some terrible situation.

It is hard that whether people want to lie and why people must lie or intend to lie .I just want to say that if what you lie is good for other people ,just go ahead ,I supoort you forever;otherwise ,I hate you forever.

Well, you've just stated why people lie. Lying isn't mostly a bad thing. I lie to my co-worker when she ask me how her breath smells. I don't wanna offend her. There are people more appropriate on telling her that and it's not me.

you should be telling her the truth, in a good way, or with a joke maybe as the friend of your co-worker. Be a friend and advice her, or talk with your other co-worker maybe a girl should do and tell her that she can advise your friend, that she is having a bad breath

people lie to you means they want to hide something or they want to cover up something. In simple word they want to show that is not there.

yes people lie for different reasons... i myself am guilty of lying sometimes... but really, i'm not comfortable lying as much as i'm not comfortable telling the whole truth either, and at such situations, what i do is, i just try my best to avoid the conversation altogether...so i wouldn't have to lie nor would I have to tell anything about the truth...it's not that easy i know. but i guess we all have to make the choice.and we can just sugar coat things sometimes so the truth wouldnt sound too harsh.

yes i do understand that, me too i do lie, but kinda guilty with myself, so eventhough i did lie, after one day i will tell the truth, because your alter ego would or thinking too much with your brin its a bit to hard. so telling the truth would be harsh but that should be the bottomline. truth will always prevails

Everyone has their own reasons for lying. There is a reasonable to good, and there is indeed deliberate lies. I myself, have made a lot of lies, although I mean for goodness. But the results I got, was the opposite. My life became miserable. Now I realize, lying is a bad thing, though the reasons lie for the good. Any bitter we must tell the truth.

I think every person of this earth and on this earth want to be happy,and every one try to make their day or life happy to this they need money for money they have to work sometimes in this way person expects more and more happiness and freedoms he fall into selfishness when he need freedom he have to do less work but the expectation of the happiness will be the some in such process of life he will lie trying to say that lie is good its an unforchunates during some sictuvation thats why we and every one has told lie in our life what do you say?

Well I think all people has this kind of sin and of course I am one of them. There are times that there is no sense to tell the truth as I am tired of explaining all over again then argue with no sense at all. But then I am not saying that what I did is right. We must admit that we are doing that for being reasonable and practical.
But then there are things that we lie just because it is private matters. Of course especially when it comes to dark secrets. Which we don't need to divulge the informations.
In business there are many people that are liars as well as part of earning more or it can be a marketing strategy.

I agree to all that you have stated. Some people lie because it is a habit already to them. When you lie the first time, you will try to cover it up with lies again and again. So in order not for you to lie over and over again.. end it up at first by being honest. Suffer the consequences it may give you but your heart is free with all the guilt.

i'll tell you what do i think my friend. first, people lie because some people does not worth to know the truth. Second, People lie apart from their selfs, to protect their love ones. Third, people lie because the situation calls for it. Fourth, lying could be said to be morally wrong but i think otherwise. lying becomes only wrong when it has an evil purpose.

"Lie" is that word which can save a life or can damage a life.....it's totally depends on it's utilize...one can make another happy with a lie or one can breaks a heart with a lie...one can tell a lie to hide his fault...but sometimes a lie can lead a person in a deep trouble...so try to avoid to tell a lie....am i right??

Well, why do people LIE??? Thats really a tough question to answer even the people lying themselves dont know why they did so..but broadly classifying there are two reasons for lying..one we know that we are doing something wrong and we say lie to hide our deeds and secondly, we say lie when we feel that this will be in favour of somebody they are trying to help. Well thats a human nature that we speak lie sometimes in our life no matter how honest we are. Every human has a different point of view.

Many people lies, we all can lie at some point in one way or another, and it’s typically the little white lies and nothing serious, but I have met a number of people who lie on a daily basis, and for them it’s more like a hobby than anything else. Indeed, it seems that they cannot live without making up some story or exaggerate the truth in some way.
