Helium - Rating Stars

I just tried joining Helium and can't understand rating star system no matter how many times I read the blogs as it appears to have inconsistencies with what is written in the Helium wiki. I have posted only one article and have rated more than 10 articles (the supposed minimum) however, I don't know where to see the actual number of articles I've rated and my percentage. It's not reflected on myHelium. So I have several questions for those that have been affiliated to this site for quite some time: 1. How does it take for the account to be updated? 2. If I rate 10 accurately after writing one article, do I start earning right away? 3. After I am allowed to earn, will the earnings of my article from before I was allowed to be posted or should I consider this as application fees? These are my questions for now. Thanks in advance for the help. I will track this thread diligently! haha

I'm just like you, I can't grasp the writing score as well as the rating score. I need someone to tell me in the simplest terms how to do it. I didn't like Helium much because I can't the rating system. It used to be that poorly-written articles got better rating than better ones, and as such I deemed the site not to be a good one. But I'm taking a second look at it just over the last week. I have achieved my first writing star. I still did not know how I got it. I have two articles which has been there since 2008. I added one last week but it was rejected due to some grammatical errors or something. But I still got my writing star???? Anyway, I submitted another one and let's see how it goes. I seriously do not know how many articles I need to rate.

I got it wrong. I got my first rating star, not writing star. I'm going to give it a few more tries before I move on to other sites. I also have a Hubpages and Squidoo account. It's more straight forward there. I may look into these websites, after I have explored Helium a little bit more. I just want to make sure that I have tried to garner the most out of it.

Same here! I started with Associated Content but I haven't given up on helium just yet. Maybe it could work out after all! I haven't tried online marketing articles before but I plan to do some for hubpages and squidoo. What's better between the two sites?

I agree. How can they rate the way you rate an article? Since it's subjective how can they score it? If I deem an article better than the rest believe it to be I am wrong then? I tried this site out and I must say its a little confusing. I tried it because it was recommended and they say that it is a stable site, but given that I can't understand the system I might try a different site. I am also trying out hubpages and maybe squidoo for marketing articles. I would also be trying out associated content. I also agree with the amount, I had 8 and 100% one day after rating 2 additional articles I suddenly has 40 and 72.5%!!! I don't know how it happened but I'm sure I never rated more than 20!

The amount of rating that you do is reflected is your rating stars, you should find these on the My Helium page under My Helium Statistics. It should update everyday (usually about a day behind) The number of stars should indicate how many rates you have made, you also have to have a score of 75% though (which is derived from voting similary to everyone else I think). Once you have a rating star you should start earning on your one article, however with only one article I doubt you will earn very much at all.

I got that part about one article not earning that much! But I already quit Helium, as I can't understand the rating system. However, Thank you for the reply, I've moved on to triond and probably hubpages or squidoo for marketing articles (which I have not started yet!). Always looking for the right platform as I don't have much time I can devote writing and posting. Though it appears I can participate well enough in myLot

I guess what I don't like about Helium is the fact that they require to be active in in a thirty day period not only writing but reviewing as well. What I don't get is why my rating stars change when I don't rate a single article. It really is strange for me. maybe when I have more time, I'll try Helium again. I'm glad to hear you make quite a bit in Helium.

I have made quite a bit at Helium but it does take a lot of time and effort plus they only allow certain articles whilst Triond allow you to post just about anything, hope you have more look there. Look me up I am on Triond under Arioch (what else) and add me as a friend or reply with your name and I will add you.

You don't have to be a very good writer, but you must know the basics. If you have one article you can start rating other peoples work and earn accordingly. That's what the rating stars are for. But thanks for the reply. If you have the time its worth a try. I just started there as well!

I guess you should take a deeper look at the help section of helium. The questions you asked were mentioned inside. The only place to check how you rate articles is from my Helium page. Yet, it is only updated once a day. Also, it seems that the exact time of updating is rather random, but it must be updated once a day. The only thing you can earn by rating is a "rating bonus". It is a total amount of US$3.0 if you can keep 5 rating stars at the end of each month. To get 5 rating stars, you will need to either: 1. have an average rating score of 85+ and have rated 300+ articles in the past 90 days OR 2. have an average rating score of 75+ and have rated 500+ articles in the past 90 days. If you rate less than 300 articles, you will not receive any bonus at the end of the month. On the other hand, rating a lot more than 500 articles, you will still only get US$3.0 at the end of the month.

I read the rating stars sections the problem is it somehow contradicted the ratings blog recommended by Helium! Thank you for your reply, It's good to know that they update daily in order to give new members a chance. 300 + articles? That's a lot but given that its only 10 articles per day its not that bad.
