i also use windows XP. W7 is also good, but some of my programs cannot be installed in W7 so I must use XP. both of this operating system are faster than vista. but W7 appearance is better than XP with the same speed.

Windows7 works ok with a dual or quad core CPU, 4GB of RAM and modern, fast graphics card with 512MB GRAM or better. Most old PC's running XP can't really handle Win7. Also, if you go for the 64bit version of Win7 then you will need new software and some of your periferals like scanners, modem, printer, etc. may not have drivers for the OS. It could be a very expensive upgrade! But yes, Win7 is better than XP.

Windows 7 may be better, i have no idea. But, if I were you, I will stick with XP for a while. (Till at least drivers for Windows 7 is released by other popular manufacturers.) It happened with XP too early, for me. I upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows XP, and to find that most of the peripherals we used didn't have drivers for Windows XP. (It was an unbranded one.) Then we had to scrap those peripherals and buy new ones. And, from then on we started buying branded peripherals only, so that newer versions of Windows will have drivers inbuilt for those devices. However, some devices, we have to buy for our current need, which may not be branded.

You shoul upgrade your pc to W7 if you need a faster computer to play computergames or if you are programming, I know that vista was a mistake but I've heard that W7 is many times better but if you have too old and outdated hardware you should get a new computer rather than updating, it just can't handle it

i'd suggest you to use XP. i still use XP till now. it has a very smooth process. XP doesnt have a big process to run which makes the requirement to run something are low. But if prefer about the appearance, try windows 7, it looks better but heavier. although it's lighter than vista :D

Windows 7 is a better version, because it is the latest one and also it has loads of additional features. If you have sufficient hardware opt for Win 7
