I have been unemployed most of the year and my husband does keep the bills paid, but he doesn't seem to have any extra money and with Christmas getting near I am worried about how I will get gifts for my kids and family. Does anyone have ideas as to items that I could make as gifts besides cookies and candies? I do not sew or do any kind of crafts. I am really worried about my 13 year old daughter having a nice Christmas.

I think that there are a lot of people that are realising how close christmas is and they are also thinking the same.I feel that there are going to be a lot of people that are going to struggle again this christmas, as well as trying to keep up with all their normal bills now.

We are a little better off this year than we were at Christmas time last year, but not a lot. I am starting early and I hope to have some gifts for her early. I just ordered a hat for her this past week and I hope that she likes it.

Do you have any money at all to spend? Just a little bit can go a long way if you check thrift stores. Sometimes they have brand new items, but if you look for collectibles or jewelry, clothing accessories and so on, you couldn't tell if they're brand new or not.
If you have a Freecycle group in your area, you may find things on that, or ask for them. People are kind hearted, especially around the holidays.

Our family all lives right here by us or close by so we see them all the time. Kids aren't interested in things like that.

so sorry. lots of people are going to be hurting and the kids suffer the most. ive never been a great sewer, but i have made clothes for dolls and such, but sounds like shes to old for that. maybe there is an organization in your area that gives gifts for kids. i know its embarrassing but id look into it. i used to do it every now and then when the kids were little and we was very poor.

Thanks for your help. I have checked into a couple of local sites like that. There just isn't a lot of help due to so many people needing help.
