Hello guys. I will be starting my 4th job on Monday, November 22, 2010. I am so excited again to work in another Call Center or BPO (Business Process Outsourcing)Company. My work will start at 6am (morning) till 2pm (afternoon). I will have to get used to sleeping early again at night since it has been MONTHS that my biological clock is set to being awake at night and sleeping at daytime. My eyes are not really that seeing the full brightness of the sunshine. How will I be able to get used to this kind of working hours once again if I am used to being awake at night. I haven't been speaking pure English lately these past few months because the last time I have been a Quality Assurance Officer in a Data Entry job was not really using the English language that much. Although I am using English here in MyLot all the time but it would still be different if you execute all the things you have in mind through speaking. I hope I still have the smoothness and fluency that I got months back then. I will have to bring back again the great time management that I have posted as a discussion back again to my life because time there in that kind of industry is GOLD. Thank you for the advices guys. Welcome me back to the WORKING WORLD. Have a great week ahead to all of you.

Congratulations on your new job. Hope you enjoy it and you get to stay long there if it's a good company. I'm also in the Outsourcing industry (BPO before, now ITO) and I know that the attrition rate for these companies are high. So goodluck and have fun while working!

Thank you so much. It is a good company though. What is the meaning of ITO though. I have never heard of it. Yes the attrition rate is really high and from training up to being on the production floor is almost 50%. Can you imagine that? Yes I will definitely have fun with my work and enjoy the training. I do not worry much because I belong to the top 5 of the class for sure. and I am now a Quality Assurance officer. Have a great day.

Oh I am so sorry to hear that you have been laid off. I am sure in the near future or maybe early next year you will be able to find a new job for you because 6 years of being in a certain company is something you can be proud of. Thank you for this nice response with my post. You should not blame yourself if the company really retrenched workers. I will definitely enjoy my new job. Have a great day.

yeah, a good news t starting a new job. congratulations to you. As the first day for work, dressing more formal and smiling to face all your colleagues. The most important is to join the work team. I wish you can do well and gain a warm welcome by them. Just adjust your sleeping hours and try to focus on the day. your language skills needs to be practiced. speaking is not like writting, we should speak more frequent. and it will be good.

Oh wow! Thank you so much for the nice response. Yes I should speak more often using English so that I will be able to get a great practice. You are correct that writing is really different in speaking. In writing you will be able to edit what you will be able to post unlike when you are speaking. what you have said is already being heard and real time feedbacks will just come along. may it be good or bad. Yes I am trying to discipline myself with the sleeping hours and my sleeping pattern. I am trying not to sleep as i went home from work and wait till i am done with dinner and start to sleep after an hour taking that. I just go here in mylot to spend my time wisely and post comments like what I am doing now. Have a great day and enjoy MyLotting.

Hello there! Yes you are correct. I just went home now from work and makes me really tired now but all we had to do there is sit and listen to the facilitator / trainer. I will surely adjust for sure with the succeeding days to come. Thank you for the response that actually happened. But still i cannot give up myLot eventhough I am tired. Have a great day.

Congratulations, you're no longer a statistic! Changing your sleeping pattern won't be easy, but you'll get used to it after a week. What you really need to be prepared for is dealing with the irate customers over the phone. It doesn't matter how fluent your spoken English may be, if the customer doesn't like what he/she hears, he/she won't be happy. Oh, and if you have the choice, don't stick to the script pad, it annoys customers to listen to a list of procedures that makes the customer feel stupid. All the best with the new job!

Thank you so much for being so subtle in delivering that message. You really have chosen a not so rude word to use. Hahahaha.. Yes I am not longer being a bum.. hehehehe. Yes I know how to deal with I-Rate customers. I am confident with myself that I will be able to help the customer I am speaking with on the phone. Being so friendly and warm by nature (or hot) I will be able to turn angry and upset customers to happy one and very satisfied. Thank you again and have a great day.

Hi, Welcome back to working Life and hope you can adapt well in your new working environment. As you mentioned about your English language, not to worry too much, as time pastby, your English will be touch up,so speak more English with your friends and colleagues. So you will be one of the Call Centre Officer? Does it mean you will need to be on phone all the time? I used to work in call center as custome service officer. I was in bank's call centre and also need to work on shift. Kinda stressful job,but I love the environment. I got chance to learn more things and also interact with different level of people. Again..I need to use English for most of the conversation over the phone,so it is definitely a good chance for me to improve my English. Happy working!!

Yes Shia I still remember you stating here in myLot that you were once a call center agent. And I really remembered you the most because of the most helpful person to tell me things about going to Singapore. That really meant a lot to me. I was already a Quality Assurance Officer from another company but I went back there again to be an agent and soon I will apply for a promotion if there are slots open because I already know how the process goes. Yes, for me I can write good English but then I am not now able to speak that fluent because I haven't been used to it for quite sometime. But I am sure I will get back on track regarding speaking. Thank you so much for the nice response. Have a great day.

Congratulations!! I may be the last to wish you on this. I was on weekend and could not access the mails due to it. However, hope you will get a better beginning and hope you will enjoy the new environment soon and will be managing well. All the best for the same. Mean time I wish to know few more things also. I have observed that many of the people from Philippines are keep changing their job very frequently and within 2 years there may be 5-6 new jobs. Why is so? You all are not happy with the job or looking for better prospectus? If you change to a new job, what are all are the new specifications you are looking for? By compensation wise or company wise? Now you are fixed with a company and if you don’t like for 3-4 months, will you change it or be happy with the current one? How far it from your work place from home? Now you may have to reschedule the timing for social network contacts and myLot timing as per your new schedules. I think the new timing would trouble you. However, as you got a habit of getting early in the morning, it won’t be an issue. I think this is the time for you to show your expertise and knowledge wisely and hope you will manage to get the appreciation from the co-workers and management by expressing your dedication and hard work. Also, be well mannered, disciplined, professional in your field, which will directly promote you to the best positions. Hope you will enjoy the new job and wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Best regards, Thank-s

Thank you for the advices. It's really fine that you just sent me a good response to this post. I am quite busy as well. I am really enjoying the new and fun environment now. You are definitely correct. That people here especially in the call centers are not really staying with their jobs that long. as for the contractual workers, their contract is only for 5 months and they are opt to search for other jobs until such time that they will end their contract again and then look for another. It is very sad having this kind of system. I think I am really happy with this company. I think this will be a great opportunity for me to grow and if not for a few months being on probation then I will go to Singapore and look for a good job there. Not that far dear... but the traffic going there is really a mess and can really ruin my day for being pissed off with the local government system here. Yes definitely I will be able to do well with the training and until I get endorsed to my Department. I will remember that always to be well-mannered and always be humble. Thank you so much for all these.

Congrats to you for landing the job. It will get some time to getting use to as it is quite early in the morning. So yes, get plenty of rest and do not over exert when you come home after work, especially the first few weeks. There after you will be in a routine that your body will adjust quite easily. I am extending a great big hug, Congrats and do well.

You should be: 1. Properly dressed. 2. Wearing a smile. 3. Confident but not bragging. 4. Friendly with your co-workers. Most employer assess employee on their first day not by the knowledge of the job they have but their capability to mingle well with his/her co-workers. 5. Relax. You can not grasp on your work if you are too nervous. Being nervous is good in a little amount but don't let it hinder your ability to work.

Congratulations and its great to know that you've joined the working crew. I believe you should follow your needed sleeping schedule. Get there about 15 to 20 minutes early, and be careful about how you approach people. You will need to learn people's different attitudes and interests to partake in their conversations. Be prepared to bring a note book for note taking, as it will come in handy for such jobs. Try to sound like a professional and don't shy away when asked questions. You will have to follow all the procedures needed to successfully answer people through the phone.

Thank you so much for the very realistic advice. I really appreciate it. Yes I will be serving your country and your fellowmen once again and it is nice to know that I have friends like you here who are nice. It will be really put in my mind that most of the people there in your country are really nice. I will be very helpful to all of you guys and very considerate just like the admins here who are so nice as well and they have proven that one also. Yes I do adhere to all the rules and procedures though and it will be my second time to be with that same company and same account I will be assigned. Have a great week. Fycee.

First of all congrats on getting back to the full time job market! As far as preparations go, just be calm and composed.I understand that you feel somewhat nervous but that is fine.If you keep yourself cool and realize that people in your workplace are also humans after all, that should do wonders to your state of mind.Next as far as fluency of language is concerned, it should take just a short time.Once you start conversing in English with your colleagues and on your tasks, it would not be difficult.I am sure about this because in the discussion, I can see that your English is pretty good.So there should not be any problems at all on that count.Just try to focus on your work and I am sure you are going to enjoy it.

congrats, your right it takes some time for the biological clock to work according to a new time stream ,but it'll improve soon,my advise get as much rest as you can it'll help the body mind and soul, have a healthy breakfast , start off slow and easy don't try to be "do it all in a day women" get use to the system slowly adjust and follow your co-workers to see how it's done their ,even though you've done it all before a new place to work can add a lot of changes, good luck!!!!
