Have you tried different kinds of quiches for a party?

I have. I love to have people at home yet I don´t like to be serving and taking care of food while the rest is having fun. So I either make a cold buffet or I think of a meal I can make in advance and just heat.
I have found out that quiches are one of the answers to that. I make many in advance, leaving the beaten eggs and parmesan (if needed) to put at the last moment. When it´s time to eat, I put two at my oven for 10 minutes and have a helper to cut them in wedges as soon as they are ready. Meanwhile the other 2 are baking
. ome of my friends have copied my idea and have even made it better, freezing the cooked crusts or even some of the fillings. I don´t much like that because I like all fresh.
Have you done anything like that with any food? What is your party food? Do you make it in advance? Share

Hi Margy...I simply can barely afford to feed my animals and myself these days and so I'm unable to entertain.
. Quiches are extremely expensive to make in my country and a small on is about $14 to buy. Years ago, it was fashionable to have quiche for dinner parties or as a buffet food and people who have lots off eggs available will make one or two for a morning tea or luncheon for a community project.
That's a great idea of yours!

I make a pie dough (flour, salt and water) and bake it. And the filling is whatever you have in the fridge plus 3 beaten eggs for one. If I make a quiche for myself, I can eat that with a green salad and that´s all. Proteins are in the eggs (you can add some bits of cheese to melt but it´s not necessary),veggies and the salad provide the vitamins and minerals and the carbohidrates are in the dough.
I never buy pizzas or hamburguers out but make my own for 1/5 of the price. My quiche (serves 2 to 4 depending on the rest of the meal)has a cost a little over $2.

Hiya margi,
Now this time I am not going to say I don´t do this or I can´t do that
I am okay at making these kind of things too but I would have to make them in someone´s House other than my own.
All the same that does not mean for one moment I don´t try different things with what I have got on hand. Can`t think of any off hand I like to improvise as well. Sounds scrumptious what you cooked there. Did you have any left over all did it all go in one go?

It always sort of disappears, lovingangel
. They are SO good just out of the oven that I will not let a piece left to be reheated later on.
My last quiches have been all swiss chard as chard is growing in the garden like weed. But any veggie or cheese will do. I always put parmesan cheese on top. I love parmesan cheese.

Hiya margi,
How has Christmas been for you
then over there. I have thought about you and what you might be doing with those special recipes you come up with.
I love Cheese too but not too much. So Swiss Chard is Acelga then? Well never mind Acelga, Swiss Chard anything with Cheese on top makes my Day too.
I sometimes add a bit of grated Cheese in the end when I have finished doing Red Beans or Lentejas or Rice with Chicken.
Happy New Year. Feliz Año Nuevo margi abrazos Hugs. Sue.xxx
