To self publish or?

I wonder how many actually self publish what they write, how many simply produce an e book and how many send what they have from one publisher to another hoping that they will find it to be to their liking and publish it for free. I have done the first two routes but cannot bring myself to send what i write to a publishing house, maybe its the thought of rejections. What do you do?

I am currently writing a book right now, and I am scared to send the manuscript to a publishing house, heck, the story is good, but dealing with rejection is another things. Lots of people look down at self publishers, mostly because for them is not professional. There have been lots of bad self publisher and people tend to think that we all are bad. If you do self publish a boor, ebook, make sure is free of grammatical errors and be ready to spend lots of money promoting your work. If you think is good, do it the old fashioned way-- publishing house/send it to an agent.
