So what does everybody think or know about the amber teething necklaces. I know alot of people who say thay work so well, that there child is much happier with them on, they nap better, sleep longer at night, are not cranky and how the teething pain has disappeared. So I went and bought one for my son. I read about them and they are suppose to be worn touching the skin for best results, so I am constantly tucking it into his shirt to its touching his chest. It said it can take about a week for the full effects to be noticed. So I waited a week, then 2 weeks and now about a month. It looks super cute on him, but other then that I have not noticed any difference really. I dont know if I am doing something wrong, or what. I am really glad I didnt spend the 20 dollars or more they normally retail for, but instead got one on ebay for about half of that with shipping! Do you own one of these for yourself, or someone is your family? Do you think they work? Any information??

Well the necklace you have pictured looks ALOT different from other amber teething necklaces, that one looks jagged and painful. usually they are round or roundish oblong amber beads and there is nothing dangling from it. They say Amber is associated with sunlight and warmth and the unique properties can boost the ammune system. They also have amber teething bracelets avaliable. Good luck in your natrual adventure!

I have seen the ones you were talking about. I have been told the difference in the round ones have been polished, these ones are raw? It is not sharp or painful though! Also the dark dangling pieces are also amber, but a different color. There are many different colors of amber.

If its soft and shiny its polished, even in that shape. you cant give raw unpolished rocks to children it will cut their gums with rough edges rather than provide a precise pressure. If they were not polished they would not be smooth on the cerface there would be sharp jagged levels almost like micro stairs and amber has the tendancy in raw form to have black crusty pits on them un polished. really the only differens in types of amber is the species of tree it coems from.

I would never put a necklace on my baby!! It would pose a choking hazard!

Thats what my family doctor said, then I have had other doctors recomend them. I then talked to lots of moms who have used them. So I decided I would use it, when he is awake and I am with him watching him. So thats what we do. It has never caused a problem, and its fairly short and always tucked into to his clothes so it cant get caught on anything. Thank you for the concern though.
