I came across such places before when I was still studying in college. There is this bridge that one would pass using jeeps or you can walk through it if you want but, the smell at both ends really reek. You really have to pass quickly so that you won't have to suffer too much.
Most of the time, those people who don't have any place to go dump their crap at night at such places. One who doesn't have a strong stomach would probably feel dizzy or vomit.
Those in position would probably just assign those to clean such things up but, those who are making it bad would still continue doing so. They should really target those individuals who are making it smell bad.

Well, you can just be frank with your foreign friends about it. They can already smell it, they might as well have ideas and clarifying their assumptions would help a bit. You must also remind them though that this happens in other places. Not only other places in the country but, in other countries as well.
Yes, it is embarrassing but, it will stay like that until something really good happens, like active change. Of course, its easier said than done (-_-")

Well, that's our Philippines. I also wonder if I go to USA especially to New York where their place is so modernized, I wonder if I will also smell such kind of bad odor. Their cities are bigger than ours.
