Do you know how it is when someone in the family just gets a yen for something special? Well Hubby wants bean soup, he's wanted it for several days and I didn't have all I needed to make it. Now the pressure is on, there is no way I am going to make it the way he has dreamed of having it. I am a little bit of this and a little bit of that type of cook, no two pots of soup ever taste the same. Well wish me luck, if it turns out to bad the chickens will get it.

Yum, I absolutely love soup beans, especially when they are paired with some cornbread. When I am cooking soupbeans, I do have a specific way that I will always cook them because of the fact that they are something that is so easy to make. However, when I am making something like chili or vegetable soup, I have never been able to make two pots that are exactly the same. I love cooking big pots of soup because they will feed us more than once.

Uhmmm...Not keen on bean soup...I think the best cooks are ‘a bit of this and a bit of that’! Cooking is about creativity I think! I am sure your husband will love the bean soup! My favourite soup is pumpkin, nice and thick with lots of sour cream. Yum! I don’t often make it but my friend does and it’s a real treat!

I made some bean soup last week and it was wonderful! It takes planning, though. I have to soak the navy beans overnight and meanwhile I'm cooking the ham hock. When it's done it goes in the fridge so I can skim off the fat. Then I cook the beans. It's a 2 day job!

I never had bean soup, only pea soup and maybe thats what you're talking about?
Im the same, my soups never taste the same but I dont mind and hubby doesnt mind also although sometimes I wish I hadnt made it as its not that good, well not as good as it can be.
Ive also noticed that when I dont really feel like making soup, it doesnt taste as good. So tell your hubby that you need to be in the right frame of mind lol.

Hello friend, i made white beans too, today. But it was not soup, i made stew.
Tomorrow it will be chicken.
I wish you luck, we love beans and i love cooking it. Here in my country, chefs who got lots of experience and have to test some new cooker, ask him to cook white beans and to check his cooking skills

yup we do things like that too. you sound like you are under a lot of pressure to perform and make that wonderful bean soup. good luck to you. you will have to tell us all how it turned out? making some bread to go with it? (we have a bread maker that we got for free and we generally make some bread when we have homemade soup). In fact, its beef and barley soup this week!

Yes I know how it is. I am the same way! With our family it is usually chili, though not soup. And, like you, no two pots come out the same. But everyone ends up liking it anyway! Good luck, though I don't think you will need it.

I love to cook and always cook from scratch, but the ingredients vary a lot depending on what´s in the fridge. I use all kinds of leftovers so my dishes are never the same either
. But I think that´s the fun part: you never know what exactly will be like. One thing I know at this time of my cooking: it will be different, but it will taste awesome
.
I make different sorts of bean soups. All go to the blender at the end and all have 3 or four main ingredients (the rest is optative and depends on the fridge). Beans, fried onions with garlic and a bit of smoked bacon are a must.
I hope your bean soup is the one hubby likes. Happy posting!

I like white bean soup served with steamed cabbage and garlic bread! I think its a great combo, I just make regular nothing special white bean soup and and fresh chopped parsley, basil or oregano on top as garnish and added savory flavor, paired with the steamed cabbage (red is good here adds color) lightly salted and peppared, gives a different texture, for the garlic bread I buy french baguette and roast some garlic cloves and then mash it with butter a bit of salt and spread it on the toasted peices! YUM!!!

I have a hilarious bean soup story. My grandma is a wonderful cook, so my grandpa was incredibly spoiled. So they were visiting my dad and stepmom and she made him bean soup. Now my step mom is very into Martha Stewart and being the best and trying to impress everyone all the time. So she found this bean soup recipe online and spent hours making it. She was talking about how special the recipe was and how hard she worked and so she serves the first special bowl to my grandpa. He eats a bite and she says "so what do you think" He says "it's very good" and she gets all proud. Then he says, "but anybody can make bean soup"
