I Got My First Writing Star But I Think I'm Going to Lose it!

I joined Helium in 2008, wrote two articles and left the site. I was pretty confused with the changes in the rules, and terms and conditions. I just did not have the time to ponder over them. Recently, I took a second look at Helium and decided to give it another shot. I started by republishing my articles there. I put in a few articles and my writing went up higher than 50%. I was motivated. I put in a few more articles and yesterday, my writing score crossed 75% and I got my first writing star. But I think I'm going to lose it. Today I received a few emails rejecting my Helium articles due to grammatical errors. Hmm... These articles have been deleted. What should I do now?

I know how it felt like when you get your first Helium writing star but how disappointed when you lose it. Having only one writing star is a precarious position to be in. The star flickers and flickers and would finally be gone. That is why when you write for Helium, don't just stop at four articles to get the writing stars. Aim for thirty articles and you will get two writing stars and that will put you in a more stable position. As for the deleted articles, do what the above poster says. Correct whatever is necessary then submit the articles again. But don't spend too much time on them. Try to submit at least 100 articles and when you have three writing stars, it's difficult for you to lose them.

Hi UmiNoor, Thank you for your encouragement! I think I do need to submit more articles at Helium, but I just may not have the time to search for the titles and matching them with the ones I have currently. I'm recycling my articles for the moment. My next course of action would be to correct the mistakes and resubmit the articles that has been rejected. Next, I will submit more articles to aim for two writing stars. Then at least my stars won't disappear. I just want to maintain the writing stars! I'm not going to spend too much time on resubmitting articles. I don't have much time either. I should work on submission and writing new materials.

HI UmiNoor, If you have read my Triond articles, they are mostly the same because I'm just reposting my articles there... really just trying my luck! If that does not work, I may have to write new articles just for Helium. I have rated some articles. Thank you for highlighting the fact that I can also earn from rating, that's amazing. But my main problem is getting a writing star. They are now threatening to shut down my account if my articles are not up to standard. Are they really that bad? Will PM you my profile link.

May I read your articles at Helium if you don't mind? Send me a link to your profile page at Helium via pm. I really want to read them. I've read most of your articles at Triond. PS. And another thing SydneyHazelton, you should try to get at least one rating star otherwise you won't have a share of the page views to your articles. Try rating at least ten pairs of articles every day. You'll get one rating star once you rate 4 pairs of articles. If you've got 85% rating score with 400 rates in a month, you'll get $3 bonus. But if you can't hit 85% rating score, you should have rated 500 pairs.

I was also on Helium almost 2 years ago. In the first month I reached the 25.00 dollar pay out! I was excited. But then my star kept dissapearing and I got dissapointed and stopped writing thier. I am considering starting again. I have 21 articles I think. But I have never had an article rejected, and I know I am not the best writer. So that is proboply a new thing? Hmm i think I might start thier again and maybe try what the above poster said and try leapfrogging, and also reaching the 30 article mark to hopefully be able to maintain the writing star.

My writing has disappeared as I have predicted. I'm left with 10 articles. I thought I'd have much less after they rejected them a second round. Anyway, I'm determined to give it one last shot. I'm going to put into another 20 more articles in the next few days and see what happens - whether my writing would reappear again. I see so many benefits of getting and maintaining at least one star there. Giving it a try!

Yes I think I will give it a try, and maintaining 1 writing star makes the earning alot more. DO you know if the rejecting articles and taking them down is new, becuase it never happened to me before when i was on the site?

I'm not sure if it's new because I have not been there for a long time too, about two years. Kayla, it's sad but all my articles have been deleted from Helium. I guess, they don't like my style of writing. I'm moving on to another site.

I currently have two rating stars, and my best advice is try not to write for titles that have a lot of entries under them, because the more entries there are the more likely you are to be towards the middle or the bottom rather than the top, also leapfrog articles if you're not happy with the ranking they have.

That's what I did. I wrote for titles that have very few entries, some only had two entries. But I guess they don't like me, all my articles have been deleted by Helium altogether. It's rather sad, but I guess it's a signal that I try something else.

When articles are deleted from the site, you can still see them under "my articles". I suggest copy and pasting them into word, fixing the errors, and submitting them again. I have three stars on Helium, and whenever my percentage dips into the 75% range (instead of 76-77) I panic and spend a day leapfrogging old articles!

I'm doing that right now. I have completed two and have about 5 to go. Thanks for the suggestion. I don't think I want to spend time leapfrogging articles at this moment, I just want to maintain my stars, so that I can get the chance to receive upfront payment in the future.
