christmas is supposed to be the month for happiness and a little bit of wealth
but what happens to those who get laid off before christmas?
how do their employers feel about it?
how is their conscience affected?
guilt?
i just laid off one of my agents
effective on the 10th of december
and it's kinda bringing me down
i've signed everything which finalized the termination
it was supposed to be on the 3rd, but after finding out she wouldn't have any salary for the whole month, i extended it just so she'd receive her salary. she'll have to save up though until january cause her backpay is gonna be withheld for december 10 by the agency that referred her to us.
arghhh

All in all, it's pretty bad, I have a friend whose contract expires on the 20th of December, and she's all freaked out that it won't be extended and she'll be without a job by Christmas.
But I don't think you - as an employer - should feel bad about this particular timing, there's never a good time to fire somebody. At least where I live December and January are good months on the labor market, it's easier to get a new job, so maybe your former employee will be lucky too and get a new job even before Christmas

i hope so too
i've been talking with her and squaring things away on what areas are still needed to improve to get her ready for job hunting again

i'm kinda taking it hard too
the person just became too unreliable and overconfident
she was affecting my team's morale with her absences and personality clashes
i couldn't afford to keep her employed at the risk of losing the contact center
