This Jejemon phenomena just got attention only recently. I remember during the year 2002 some people I know already used the jejenese way of texting. what can you say about it? Do you think it's hazardous to our language? Or do you think it might help?

The media exposing this jejemon thing more is one of the reasons why this boomed up, but personally, I don't think there is any good here. I am one of the newspaper writers in our school when I was in high school (which was two years ago). I would read the articles that other students submit and check if they can be published. I always see wrong spellings and wrong grammars. Many students can no longer distinguish the right spelling and the jejemon spelling of things. That's no good for anyone! Words used in jejemon language are totally different from the real words you would see in a dictionary. Now, younger and younger children are using cell phones and I think if people would expose them into this jejemon thing while they are still in the process of learning new words and things, they are actually feeding young ones minds with useless information. It would only make it hard for them to learn the useful things in life (or the right spelling and pronunciation of words) because they have been exposed first to the wrong ones. Though some people find it fun, I don't see any benefit here at all... honestly.

I agree with you. Before the media expose this jejemon thing, it is not widely know or use, people just ignore it. But when President Pnoy expose it and said that they jejemon should go back to studying it springs enthusiasm to the youth. I think they feel that they are cool. That jejemons are setting up a new norm in the society. I think the best way to stop spreading this jejemon thing is to correct them whenever they texted you. Like with my niece they texted me using those ill spelled words, and I tell them right away to correct their spelling after that they text correctly.

Wow, you're niece actually texted you with jejenese? Did she think it was cool? Or was she just asking you to read it for her? Either way jejenese is still confusing.

Well, as of today... I believe that the Jejemon Era has ended... though, some people still uses their jejenese language and do not care anything about grammar and formal spelling at all. They kinda look annoying to me so Im just ignoring them and let them do their stuffs. Oh, not to mention... Jejemons already have their own outfits similar to hip-hop... and that Jejecap looks nice :D I have one in my house :)

Do they call you a jejemon when you wear the cap? If they do, do you think it's insulting or just plain funny? :D

Horrible way of communicating in my opinion. It would only degrade a person's vocabulary skills and it is very hazardous to young minds. Some people even use it as a form of business communication and thus get rejected or laughed at. Ignoring this fad will help kill it I guess.

Yeah ignoring it to the point that the jejemons get will learn to forget their wickedness will help!

"jejenese" that's a way cooler term than jejemon. I think that like all other forms of informal talk, it is detrimental to young kids who still cannot distinguish from right or wrong. It's not that jejemon is wrong, but, that it's not formal.

Yeah, jejenese is not the only term out there. There's "jejebet", "jejetext" and several others. So would you favor jejebusting??? Or just let them be?

For real? Oh no, that would be like hearing a regular american say "FOSHIZZO DIZZO" LOL! But yeah our language would dramatically change if we allow jejenese to exist! Reminds of one news a few months ago, it seems that the word "imbyerna" is now considered a regular Filipino word, LOL.

Such a disconcerting thought, right? That's the evolution of language. People start using a word so often that it becomes a part of the language. It's how our modern languages evolved from their roots. So if people do not quit using jejenese, it just might achieve some recognition by scholars later.

I hate this jejemon phenomena! If i'm receiving such text I feel irate and try to reply about this stupidity. This flop culture should be ended since there is no creativity in making words longer and adding unnecessary alphabet to look and sound good. By now, they are not only in the texting are used there is even so called "jeje cap" and stuff..hahahaha. Silly kids, even get-ups has identity!

Hahaha true! There is a jejecap which is a rainbow colored hat, the one with a net in its behind. So what exactly do you tell people who talk to you in jejenese? Are they close friends or some random texter inviting you to be text friends? One time my boss was sent a jejetext by a random person he did not know and my boss replied: "Oh great! We are in need of a maid right now!" LOL.

We Filipinos are the only one who are using shorten text messages and due to this everyday usage ,well, for me im not in favor of it, cause people who are using them get confused of the spellings . And imagine even grown ups used jejemon language i think it's not really appropriate.

I don't think that shortened spellings is considered jejenese. Maybe I'm wrong but jejenese are like "voltes-five" letters, you need to combine different characters to form just one letter, like using two excalamation marks and putting a letter v in the middle just to produce a jeje letter "m". But thanks for your reply.

When email hit in the world formality fo messaging is in danger, then mobile hit with SMS formality gone in wind, then another form of messaging much worst than ever, not only the formality of messaging including the english, grammar and thinking of our young children. For me jejemon should be abolish and try to revive the formal form of writing... see you around

So in your own way, do you do something to help stop the jeje phenomenon? I guess that means you're a jejebuster no?

jejemon craze is alarming especially to the teens or kids who are just starting to learn how to spell words, I think this jejemon phenomena is teaching kids to forget to right use of words and language. I really hate it when my nieces send me a message using the jejemon lingo.I make it a point that they texted me with correct spelling. This jejemon thing is like pollution. It fogs the brain and the intellectual gifts of an individual. If not controlled it will completely pollute our language.
