Hello house keepers. I want to ask you, do you have aspirator in your kitchen and do you use it? May be some of you know that I live in rented apartment. When we moved here i liked it so much, that i'll be able to use something, which will discard the dish air. My kitchen is really little and i thought "whatever i cook no smell in the other rooms". But actually before i lived in a house and never knew the aspirator works, because in the house we had kitchen windows and this is how the air was going out. Soon i understood that aspirator can be something really annoying and i was mad, that we have it. When i cook, i never use it, because in this little kitchen, we got large window, so i always open it when when i'm doing something. That's how fresh air from outside can come in my kitchen and can keep me fresh at the same time. Next thing i find annoying with the aspirators is that they are so so so noise. I just hate it. When i turn on my aspirator, we can hear it in the living room, where we spend a lot of time. Other thing i don't like in the aspirators is that I always can smell what other people cook - these, who live under our apartment, these who live over our apartment. Like i live in one LARGE KITCHEN and it's awful. That's when i'm asking myself - this people has windows too, why they don't open them even in the summer, when the time is pretty warm and good. And my next and last argument is that the aspirator use electricity to work, so for me there is no need of it, if i can open my window. What are your opinions about the aspirators?

Hello Suggar! I have a fan over my stove yes. I couldnt live without it. I life in a house and I remember when I lived in an apartment, I could smell what others were cooking also. But I didnt do as much cooking back then haha! The reason its so noisy might be because its a cheap one. They use those in apartments because they break often. I have one that very quiet and I use it all the time....even in the summer. Let me explain why. If you are cooking a steak and you open the windows, the grease will be pushed to all the rooms in the house but if you use the fan above the stove, then the grease will leave right away. I also use it when Im smoking and I cant open the windows in the winter. So for me, I couldnt live without a fan over my stove and one in the bathroom also!! Im truly sorry yours is very noisy, they're not all like that you know.

Hello Magical Bubbles, we have fan in the bathroom and the toilet - they are at the same place both, so i can't imagine toilet without fan. But for me, over my oven, is useless, may be because i lives in a house and we had really great window, which was opened in the winter too, so no smell at all.

I do not have one of those, and dont want one! Your right just open the window when the weather is night. I hate when your trying to talk or watch tv and then something starts making loud annoying noises. I also wouldnt like to always smell my nieghbours food, and it is even worse becuase there is nothing you can do about it. I would agree there is no need for one!

It's awful when we smell what the others cook. And i realized it when we had a bag of potatoes only and i was wondering how to cook only potatoes. One day it was fry potatoes, other day it was salad of potatoes, next day it was stew with potatoes, it was so annoying. At the same time we could smeel how our neighbors cook meat, pork, chicken and so great smell was going around whole apartment. I know that my neighbors are having their own life, there is nothing bad to blame them that they cook, but when you smell something you can't afford - it's awful.
