Eto'o demonstrated that he can play theater very well. At least Zidane did it with everybody to notice it, and he didn't act that he hasn't done anything. Zidane wanted to go off the field even before the red card was shown to him, not like Eto'o did this. He made everything to seem like he did it by accident, but he did it on purpose and he deserves a major ban from football. These things have nothing to do on football fields and neither in day by day life. But I see that he received only 3 games ban and a fine of 30.000 Euros which is almost nothing compared to what he has done. This is pure hooliganism, not football.

I think it is a combination of both factors. We can't be sure what is the actual reason but for Zindane, he did it because Materazzi had insulted his mother and sister.
