Have you ever used fresh pumpkin when making a pie?

I have always used canned pumpkin when making the pie. I always thought fresh pumpkin would be a lot of work. And I really don't have that kind of time. Hopefully no one thinks I am lazy. Do pumpkin pies taste better with fresh pumpkin or like me do you go the canned route?

Well if you're lazy for using pie filling, then I'm worse because I bought a pre-made pumpkin and apple pie. I have enough stuff to cook on Thanksgiving I don't have time or energy for pies!
