According to the veterinarian in our place that pets also can have cancer I think out of 5 pets, there were 3 died for cancer. I thought this disease intended for human being. What's your opinion about this?

Yes, animals suffer from cancer too. We lost a cat to cancer, as well as a hamster. The really tough part is diagnosing it early enough to be able to help your pet; because animals usually do not show symptoms until they are really suffering, cancer in animals is not usually diagnosed until late-stage, when it is too late to do much about it except ease their pain. Good luck to you and your pet!

Certainly animals can have cancer. A friend of mine has a cat who is currently being treated for cancer, chemotherapy and all. Animals get the same diseases that humans do, I've heard of animals having diabetes.

of course they can. we are animals too. why would we be the only animals to suffer this horrible disease. I've lost a lovely dog to bone cancer, another to leaukimia, and sadly, I've lost many rats to cancer, as they are prone to it. it's a horrible disease, and we are not the only animal to suffer from it.

Absolutely pets have organs just like humans do and they have failures exactly like humans.

That's a fact that pets can have cancer. Think about mammary tumors which are so frequent within intact female dogs! But there are many other types of cancer that pets can have. I think it's a devastating disease and it's truly heartbreaking when it affects your beloved pet. Especially that pets develop cancer mostly when they are old, and it's more difficult to treat an old, weakened body. The worse think is that, as in human medicine, you can't do anything to help your friend, and veterinarians usually recommend euthanasia, when nothing more can be done.
