Christmas, as many Holidays, are familygathrig times. Thanksgiving, in the US, has it´s own kind of food that has special meaning. But each family around the world has different foods for Christmas. In my country there is the Pan the Pascua, a sort of fruit cake, that is eaten all through the season. There is also a couple of alcoholic beverages ( punch like) made with red wine with strawberies and sugar or white wine with peaches. Our Christmas is in Summer so the fruits are fresh. We are wine exporters so we can buy good wine that is not expensive. I put lots of ice cubes in the punch so that my teenage grandchildren can have a glass is they wish to.
What are your Christmas foods and bererages? Do you have something special? Share!

Your leche flan must be of spanish origins as we also have it in all Latin America. In Chile we call it flan de leche or just flan. We make it with milk, sugar and lots of eggs. I caramelise the bottom of the pan and now I use in part condensed milk.

I really don't know how to cook until the other day. It was my first try and fortunately, it tasted good enough as my bf told me. I actually prepared a buttered tuna steak I got from a website. Now, I am actually planning to have baked mussels on Christmas as my share. =)

I´m sure you will learn to cook in no time at all. Now, with the help of internet, there are recipes in full colour, even with videos step by step. It was harder when I learnt.

My mom just told me yesterday we can't buy mussels this coming days because of red tide and it's really saddening. I want to prepare something like that. I guess home made cordon bleu can be a good replacement thanks to recipe portals that are sooo easy to access.

Eggnog is a drink that seems to be mostly seasonal around Christmas, tho they have starting selling it at Halloween too. Hot apple cider is another winter drink and hot chocolate, but both of those, while seasonal, aren't really holiday specific.
They do sell fruit cake, but I don't like it, don't eat nuts.

Not really. Here is Australia we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving and our Christmas dinner is pretty traditional with the typical roast turkey, plum puddings etc. In Italy they have a special Christmas cake called Panettone, it is a dry fruit cake and my parents, being Italian, have it every Christmas; it’s quite nice but a little dry for my liking I prefer the moist dark fruit cake and the puddings are to die for!

We don´t celebrate THankgiving in our country either, course. We have a sort of fruit cake similar to panettone that we call Pan de Pascua (Christmas bread). I also find it too dry normally. It gets a lot better if you pour some good rum over it

Hello there
Christmas in Denmark is connected to several traditions, but if you ask my Dutch boyfriend he says it is all about eating and beeing together... Maybe that is indeed true...
But instead of rewriting all over what Danish traditional Christmas is about I have instead posted two links, describeing some of the Danish traditions and food.

Every year since my husband and I dated we have always had his mom's special fudge. She had given me her recipe after my husband and I had dated for a year. Unfortunately she is gone now, but I every year we do have her fudge. It is a family recipe and when I have children of my own I will be able to share the recipe with them.
My husband also loves this punch which consists of Pineapple Juice, Orange Juice and 7-Up. I make it for Christmas and New Year's Eve.
I also have a lot of cookie recipes that I make each year. I make them as sugar free as I can because my husband is diabetic. On Christmas he tends to splurge a little bit.
