Yes its true.. Indian Union Minister for Human Resource Development Shri Kapil Sibal announces low cost tablet PC. At $35 (around Rs 1500) the tablet is a lot cheaper than the iPad !! And this tablet PC is expected to hit markets by 2011. This $35 price might even drop to $20 if in the future if companies invest in further development in quality and lower cost features. Its specifications would be- A single unit system with a touch screen and a built in keyboard, 2GB RAM, Wi-Fi connectivity, Supports USB port, 2 Watt power system and also a solar power feature so that the tablet can work in remote village where there is power shortage. When it releases, i am planning to buy 2 to 3 of them and give it my each family members. Will u buy this one?

May be u r rit. Its firstly aimed for poor people and children (like $100 laptop project in china) and it would mostly be distributed to people under poverty line (Like, in our state, people UPL are distributed even free tv, jobs and even food for children by the govt.). But after some months probably it will come to everybody's hands with few advancements and with a new price tag, may he high or even low. But for sure wont cost more than $70.

I confirm your information. Your minister was talk about this, half year ago, in a visit of him in Europe. The problem for us in Europe and other continents is that, as he tells, this tablet Pc will shell only in India for Indian peoples at least the first 2 years because the demand will be very high inside country. But at least India shows the road for cheap PC's for every one!! And YES of course I will by one (in that price) for every member in my family !!

Oh man, I would certainly purchase one if it was available here! I originally wanted a tablet but went with something cheaper. I have always regretted it. A tablet would be very useful for the things I do.

Hi rajiv, What a deal! I've been on the lookout for one but their price makes them so elusive for me now. I hope it reach here in our hole in no time. With the present state of affairs, it may take quite sometime before our little town catches up with that latest technology. Remote village huh? Try our place for one, I am interested how fast that USD35 Tablet PC lands here.
