Vet Opening Times - Not Happy With Them!

Our moggy is currently excessively grooming herself which (probably) means she has an allergy to fleas. We've noticed a small patch of skin where she's been pulling fur out of her side. Mum's cat had a flea allergy and is responding very well to the more potent Frontline Mum can only buy from the vet. I've just looked at the opening times for our vets around the corner and was astonished to discover they're not even open on Saturday mornings. Mum's is so why can't this one be open? What is it with the casual attitude of Carlisle staff? It does my head in! So, tomorrow when I ring up (or go round) I have to book Flojo in during an afternoon, which means John has to take time off work. Now, I COULD take her on my own but I much prefer John coming with me as it will be easier for him to pay the fees at the time, rather than me guessing what they might be and asking for the money beforehand - if that makes sense..which it doesn't. Haha! What are the vets opening times like where you are? Can you see a vet on a Saturday?

um..i think they open at seven or eight..but what i'm not happy about is there's no overnight emergency anymore.you used to be able to call them in if you were willing to pay the fee..now,if they get sick/injured,you have to rush them to warwick-over 90 minutes on a good day-and hope they make it.

Oh dear, that's not good is it? I've no idea if there's a 24 hour surgery in Carlisle anywhere..probably not.

I don't think anything is 24 hours here. Still in the Dark Ages!

My vet is open from 8-530 M-F. They're also open 8-1 on Saturday. My vet and others in the area set up an emergency office/hospital which is open after hours M-S and on Sunday. In other words, we have 24-7 service and it's great.

Wow, so this means your vet is definitely in the 21st Century? Unlike ours who seems to be going backwards.

Lanceitup's comment was really mine. My nephew was visiting from New York City and I got him to set up a MyLot account. He was using my computer and never logged out. I've commented to a couple of discussions using his account because I forgot to check who was signed in. He flew home today, so that should be the last time I respond as Lanceitup...

Yeah, and the addition of the emergency vets/hospital was really great. If you end up going in, they contact your regular vet and get the scoop on your pet. So the emergency vet knows almost what your vet does, which helps alot.

Well, the expensive vet opens early, closes at 6 and has appointments only on Sat. The inexpensive vet opens late (10:30) closes early on Weds (1:30) closes at 5:30 the other weekdays and is open from 9-12 on Sat - but the only appointments they take are for surgeries. Still, even if I have to wait 3 hours (and I have but not recently) when you consider its $30 to walk in the door at the expensive one - just to be looked at by a tech - and I've walked out of the other office with meds for $10 and often for less if I already have the med, its worth it! And they know me by name there...

Yes, I bet they do what with all your furry friends to look after. I am sure if the vets around the corner did open on Saturday mornings people would use it. There are loads of pet owners round here, especially of cats. Anyway, I've booked her in at 3.50pm tomorrow and spent ages cleaning Flojo's carrier. I didn't realise but when I took it out of the shed there was WATER in it. All over my slippers the water went. I really can't stand our shed, it's a total waste of time. I know why the chain on my bike's gone rusty now..bloody damp conditions in the shed! The carrier is spotless now and I've put the furry cover in there. Wow, if I was a cat I'd go in it myself!
