Is it proper to use a mosquito spray and leave the room for half an hour?

That is my own way of eradicating the mosquitoes and other insects in the room and surroundings.Is this a proper way?I like to know your ways also so that I improve and effectively wipe out this mosquitoes and other undesirable insects inside the house.
