Founder in 1953, formed in 1969 and With over 14000 both sworn and unsworn members, 19 divisions, 6 Bureaus, 26 helicopters, 3 planes and 2 boats, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is known to be one the best and famous police departments in United States as well as in the world. Its also claimed to be the 3rd largest local Law enforcement agency in US. LAPD and its SWAT services been heavily fictionalized in numerous movies and television shows throughout its history. What ever thing happens like Car chases, Robberies, Fire, Crime, Bomb blasts and including City Traffic Controls, we see lots of LAPD personals on their Police/patrol cars flying/speeding away to the scene of crime. I have seen, if there is Police car chase not just one or two around more than at least 15-20 cars (including road blockers) and a helicopter are involved. Robbery, it could involve more than 40-50+ (excluding unmarked and Spl agents cars) would involve. We could hav seen how many car in 44 minute: north Hollywood shootout situation? around 30-40? I heard that NYPD has around 9000 police cars. Now tell me approximately, how many police/patrol cars (marked, unmarked, Spl agents, SWAT, K9 units and even reserve) does LAPD has?
