I had many in USA, Japan, China, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Even I have 3 penfriends with whom I made friendship 25 years ago. One penfriend from Kolkata recently expired so I have none there now. If you have and had penfriend what is your experience about penfriendship and still you want to make penfriend ???

One of our assignments in school when I was little was to have a penpal. I loved getting letters and writing them back. I had that penpal for maybe three years and then as we grew up, we just started writing less and less. I had not thought about that for a long time. Thanks for the memory jog..it's a nice memory. I used to write my granmother too. She lived on the other side of the US. It was before she got her computer so we would send cards and letters very often. I loved getting her letters and would wait anxiously for them.

Yes very interesting hobby was that time penpal and we depend on post office exchanging letters, greeting cards, hobby items such as philatelic stamp, souvenir, postcard, photo etc.

I use to love to have penpals. Wish i still had some. I like to write letters altho don't have much interesting to write about anymore. Good discussion.

I have never had a pen pal per say but have to say that emailing long distance people I may never see again is one of the things I do. It is a way of keeping the old memories alive and gives us an opportunity to keep in touch.
