So how many of you out there are linux users. Me myself I am an Ubuntu user. Now I personally like Ubuntu, but as well I would like to try Fedora. I don't really like OpenSuse. Now I know that there are a lot of other versions of Linux out there in the world. Now the reasons why I like Ubuntu are many, but the main reasons why I like Ubuntu and Linux period is because it is free. Another reason but I like Ubuntu is because it is very stable and I have had no real issues or problems with Ubuntu. It is very easy to install programs and it is very secure as well. Although there are a few minor problems that I am having like I can get Cheese to take pictures, but I can not get Cheese to record videos. At first I had problems with the microphone, but I got that one solved by reading online. Although if there is anyone out there who can give me a clue as to how to get Cheese to record videos in Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meercat" the help would be appreciated. So to all of the Linux users out in the world what linux operating system to you use, why do you like it and are there any problems that you are having that maybe another Linux user can help you with.

I prefer Linux for its flexibility and stability. Some of my uses include network defense, intrusion detection, web traffic filtering, in-line virus/spyware/spam detection, caching proxy, RAID based file server, virtual machines hosting... all one a single Linux server with mid-range hardware... choke on that, Windows! You should stick with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Long Term Support)... Ubuntu 10.10 is more like their beta release for new ideas/improvements etc. which will include bugs and incompatibility issues that have no urgency for remedial work. Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, however, is the current Long Term Support edition that will receive immediate/urgent attention to bugfixes, updates and support unti around mid-2013. If you're running Ubuntu in a production environment, you should stick the the LTS editions, both Desktop and Server. I'm still running Ubuntu 8.04 LTS on one server because the 3rd party software that server serves has not yet made the jump to support Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.

I am a multi-OS user! For me, I prefer Microsoft Windows because it is the first OS I experience in my life, and especially it has the idea that PC is for everyone. I mean Microsoft try to make computing more easier for human being, so even kids can use computer in their everyday life. However, I also prefer Linux. There are many Linux Distribution on the Internet, but for me, I prefer Fedora because it looks good. I think even Ubuntu or Fedora has different name, but they come from the same source.

I am an multi os user. Prefer my new found Linux Mint, so sweet os. Have used Windows since win95 and I am quite tired of being forced to use virus protection and stuff to keep the system clean so one day I started to use linux, think it was redhat 5. Used redhat in the beginning when I was learning (still learning) and went to Fedora Core and even tried Gentoo later but it was to complicated. Later found Arch Linux and that is a really amazing distro but got a little tired of configuring system files and just wanted something that just worked without much hassle. It was then I found Mint. Mint is a distro that is perfectly for beginners because its so simple and everything just works out of the box. I found this distro to be perfect for me just because its simple in day to day use and if Im in the mood to do some advance configuring I can do so. Today im running 3 os at the same time on the same machine. Because im an gamer I need windows for it to be simple so windows 7 is my main. Then Im using VMWare Player to virtualize my Linux Mint for the day to day use. My third os is xp just to get an old webcam work so I can skype with my gf ;) With this setup I dont need to dualboot, I have everything I need at the same time so for me this is the current best solution. Im not a completly only linux user yet but when Linux in general is being more gaming friendly I will switch completly :)
