Here it is right, I am getting my kids to do their thank you letters for their Christmas presents already. Yes you read that right. I figured that if I wrote, 'dear such and such thank for my Christmas gift love from ...' then I get my kids to sign it. Then I can put them all in the envelopes, address them then they are ready to post the day after Christmas! Every year I never seem to get around to sending off thoose all important thank you letters to friends and family in appreciation of their gifts as we always go away the day or so after Christmas Day. The kids always seem to have so much to do during the lead up to Christmas so I thought I would get this done now, I just hope I don't forget where I have put them in the meantime haha What cunning plans do you have up your sleeve this year?

Hi Humbug, Execellent idea, the lead up started today with the Christmas fayre, then then is the nativity (not that it is that any more but that a different subject lol) No cunning plans this year for me really. Waiting for payday Tuesday to go shopping for some bits but main pressies sorted. It is good to know that kids still write thank you letters. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi ya ellie Well to be honest I think this will be the first year they will have done as I haven't been able to get my act together previously and they always forget who gave them what so I thought it was easier just to keep it simple and just say thanks for the gift, simples hahaha

I straight away thought of Blackadder reading your title LOL! As a child I used to loathe having to write thank you letters, sounds ungrateful doesn't it, but as a child you don't think that way I guess. And having to sit down and write umpteen letters and remembering who gave you what was a nightmare, when I'd much rather be watching television or playing with my new toys. Christmas has come round soooooo quickly hasn't it! Put them in a safe place indeed, but not so safe that you forget where the safe place is and find the letters in Spring PMSL!

Hi ya wolfie I sure did have Baldrick in mind when I was typing that title haha It just seemed like such a good idea and I am sure the boys will be relieved that they have already done them to a certain degree. I was like you when I was younger, just wanted to open the gift and not really care about who gave it to me especially if it was socks or more smellies!! Hahaha Thanks wolfie

hi humbug thats a great and original plan and it should work for all concerned too. I have not made any cunning plans as yet. I did do something different though. my birthday was Nov.15 and nobody even sent me a card so I just sent for two new beanie babies to add to my collection, a gift from me to me. lol. My son is out of work again so did not expect a gift from him. myh best friend sent me a beautiful birthday card on the net with the most breathtaking bouquet of flowers, pictures of real flowers and so gorgeous and these will never fade unlike cut flowers. she had a birthday earlier this November lol.

Hi there Hatley Aww that is a shame you didn't get many cards for your birthday but I also find that as I get older people don't seem to bother so much. They have better bother and remember my birthday next year as it is a biggie for me haha Thanks for your response

My cunning plan is that I don't have the awful chore of putting away all the Christmas food shopping. We are spending Christmas with my daughter and her husband and new baby this year.As they have been having a hard time financially I am buying all the food and drink for the festive period, but I am going to do a Sainsbury.com shop and have it all delivered to my daughter's house before I get there, that way THEY get the job of putting it all away!!

What a great idea. As children we were made to do it on Boxing Day and it really got to me as I wanted to play with whatever I had received on Christmas Day. Remember to buy three stamps too so you can just pop them into the box. I don't have any secret plans this year re Christmas as 'she-who-must-be-obeyed' (my eldest sister' is coming out for FIVE weeks over Christmas. I do love her but she is still very controlling and I find it hard to deal with. If I take a stand then she takes to a her bed and calls all my kids saying that I have been mean to her. They don't believe her of course as I am not mean but it is all a big pain. The way I make my bed is wrong; the way I cook is wrong; the way I keep my house is wrong; etc etc etc. Still she will not be with me all of the time and I will be at work most of the time. I really love her but I cannot live with her and she never had any children of her own.Sad really to feel this way. If it was the other sister coming we would all be jumping for joy. Sorry for the rant

That's a great idea if they are very young! That way when they're older their conscience will bother them until chore is done! I don't have any. My kids are grown!
