My friend will be turning 16 on December 24 & she is at a loss as to what to do for her birthday. I suggested to have a picnic at the beach with her friends...I would love some great ideas from everyone here...please keep in mnd that here in Australia, it is summer time & we live near the beach. I will send her the ,ink to this discussion so she can see all the great suggestions.

How about going to one of those theme parks you guys up there are so famous for? If she likes movies, you could all go to Movie World. Maybe ring 'em up before hand & see what they can offer for a sixteenth birthday party? I know it's expensive, but that's what I'd do, unless of course she's the quieter type & you might like to hold celebrations at your friendly local vegan organic restaurant. Maybe book a dolphin cruise? We have them here, but you may have something similar up there? I guess whale watching wouldn't really be appropriate.

A theme park would be great but infortunately they are on the Gold Coast & we are on the Sunshine Coast...we do have Australia Zoo & Underwater World but I don't think she's go for that...The other ideas sound great too but I think they may be a little expensive for her.

Hi moon... At first i want to tell you that i have met my b'day mate here. My b'day is also 24th December. So don't forget to wish me being busy with her. As you have said that you live near beach so, i think a beach party will be fine for you. Anyway many many happy returns of the day to your friend in advance. Have a nice day.

I'm sure when my friend reads this, she will want to wish you a happy birthday for Dec 24 too (I do too ) I think a beach party sounds apt too.

How about a costume party? And she'd be the queen. Basically, roleplay the whole day.

That sounds like a great idea but I don't know if she'd be into that.

I'd love that at my age too but the only downer is, here in Australia, you can't get your learners permit until the age of 16 let alone a licence.

Hold a modest party, that's great. Sixteen is no more teen. I suggest you to ask her conducts some reflection in her day. What can I do in this youth time? That's the question should be answered. The challenge waiting in the future is greater than before. Your friend must get prepared from now. This moment is a great time to reflect that.

This is true...I think she does that at times though...she already has her life planned out from study to travel to the ideal career for her & she STILL has 2 years left of high school!
