Why are there some supervisors that are like monsters. Come to think of it. We all start from a lower job grade and they also do the job that we are doing right now. Why some of them do not have some considerations to their co-employees. If you are a supervisor please answer this one.

hi glaisse I think some people change when they move into boss position and start getting power crazy. they forget what it was like to be in our shoes and start lording it over us. This makes for real stress in the work place and sometimes you really want to quit but can't as you need that job.Supervisors should a little training in how to treat the people who work under them.

I am not a supervisor right now however I was one a few years ago, I actually ended up quitting. I hope nobody thought I was a monster, as I didnt see myself any different from anyone else, but can I just point out that it is very difficult for supervisors as well. I was made supervisor because I wanted more responsibility in work, and there were quite a few people in work who had been there longer than me but did not want the extra work, they were happy in their jobs, and at first they were all happy for me that I had become supervisor but then they turned, if I asked anyone to do anything then they would shout at me, they would argue, they were not happy with anything I asked them to do, and please note, I did say ask. I never shouted or ordered anyone to do anything, I would just simply ask, at the time I was about 19 and I can tell you that at 19, having your so-called friends and co-workers, some who are in their 40s and 50s shout at you and treat you like dirt is very upsetting, it got to the point where I felt sick going to work because I knew I couldnt ask them to do anything without arguments. Maybe I just wasnt strong enough for the role itself, maybe I was too young, but when I left I did realise that I also had lack of support from the upper management, they did not make it clear that I was able to ask my co-workers to do certain tasks in work, so when I was asking people to do things, they thought I was on a power trip, which wasnt true, I never wanted to upset anyone and was just trying to do my job. I would never ask anyone to do anything that I wouldnt do myself, and I was always trying to find ways to help anyone and be as considerate as I could. Even with doing the weekly rota, I would ask people first if there was any shift they didnt want to do or anything they prefered, which usually meant that I ended up doing all the shifts they did not want, and then they would still complain even after I had asked them what days they preferred. It makes me laugh now I think about it, all the stress and hassle that I put up with, and I wasnt even getting paid anymore for it, I was doing it all to have something that looked good on CV, so I wasnt even having any extra money for everything that was thrown at me. I have since found that the worst type of supervisor is someone who has not started from the bottom, someone who has just applied for the job of supervisor and has no idea how to do the job below them. However I think the supervisors and those below them should support each other, it should be a two way thing, have regular meetings, find out if there is anything that both sides can do to help each other. Work should be enjoyable, not a daily battle.

I am not a supervisor butt i have he same sentiment about that supervisory job of them. I have almost the same question why tthey are like monsters when it comes to their duty. Anyway i have one comment about that .. i think they would like us todo the same like what they did so we better have a chance to promote. Or they only want us to teach much rather than to became in a lower position. Maybe they are doing this not just for them i think positive for them thay're doing that for the goodness of themselves or us. THey are the only one who could answer why they are like that....

Yes I also have the same feeling,we are their employers ,we work for them and we get money from them .yes ,that's true ,but that doesn't mean that we owe them something ,we give them our time ,our work ! I think if they can smile at us ,and treat us as friends,we can work better for them which will benefit both they and we ! I think the supervisors should consider how to treat their employers !
