Bolt the hen is feeling a bit under the feather after an eggstra-ordinary feat she pulled off. She laid an egg measuring 3.6 inches by 2.2 inches after laying for just three weeks.

'It's enormous, bigger than a duck egg. You could make two omelets out of it.' claimed her owner, a gardener for a local museum. That is where said egg is headed, into the frying pan.

Chickens are known for producing eggs of varying sizes, shapes, and textures, from tiny 'farts' that contain no yolk at all to triple yolkers. Eggs can come in a wide array of colors too, from snow white to brown, not to mention shapes. One egg I saw online looked like a banana.

The heaviest egg known weighed 16 ounces.
