Do you find inspiration here?

I have a question for my fellow writers, both those who write non-fiction articles and who write stories and books. Do you find inspiration on mylot? Do you find yourself reading through discussions that happen here and get hit with an idea for an article, or a blog post or a short story? Because I do, sometimes. Maybe not for my stories, but definitely for my articles and blog posts. There are so many people here, with so many interesting points of view, that it would be a loss not to get something from all that!

Actually, when I first came across myLot, I saw it as some kind of tool where an aspiring writer can draft pieces of writing and assemble it for publication later. With other posters actively reading stuff we write, myLot provides the much needed feedback for any idea. However, given the demographics of myLot members, I can't really say I can find inspiration here especially for technical articles that I need to write. Besides, the motivations of the readers here are very different from typical readers since myLot members are motivated more by earning by posting their own stuff.

I think it's difficult to find inspiration for technical articles in general, because they are simply difficult to write, you need to know the subject and have good research skills. I don't write much of technical articles and I simply need inspiration for lifestyle stuff. But perhaps if you take into the account what sort of questions are asked most offen, you can see what types of articles people are looking for?

Yes, i also agree on you opinion. Technical stuffs are difficult to write. You just have to read on the discussions to find a clue as to what topics catches the attention of mylotters.

Yes, because as I read what others are thinking about it sparks ideas that I can write about from my particular perspective and point of view. Sometimes it makes me want to research an idea and other ideas come into my head. Long ago Solomon wrote: Proverbs 27:17 (Contemporary English Version) Just as iron sharpens iron, friends sharpen the minds of each other.

Mylot can be a little confusing and overwhelming, I agree. I remember when I was starting here, I was so lost and didn't know what to do, where to comment, how to make friends with people. But a bit of practice and now I'm very comfortable here. I'm sure you'll feel at home here and that mylot will inspire you a lot!

I like mylot because of its vast topic of discussions from people of different backgrounds and it does give me some knowledge of how others are living their life and get some of my problems solved indirectly. I think most of the writers in mylot are very inspiring as their discussions are great.

Definitely! In fact, I come to mylot often to find inspiration, especially when I feel I'm not inspired to write. After browsing one or two discussions, there will always be something I'd want to write about. Many discussions here require our opinion and all of us have different perspectives and viewpoints about various things in life. It is easy to find something I'd be interested to write in a short while. That's why I keep coming back to myLot even though I don't participate much here.

I totally understand what you're talking about! I get so many tiny ideas from mylot that my "to-write" list is so huge I can barely keep up! I wish days were longer, maybe then I'd be able to create all those things I have ideas for

That's definitely true! may I ask for what other sites are you writing? I'm always interested where mylotters spend their time when they aren't on the site

No, I come to mylot just to get away from my writing assignments. Don't get me wrong I love to write, but I tend to get my ideas when I observe other people around me. I can see how everybody has a point of view over certain topics, but most of the time what they talk about or write about is not part of my interests. I get stories from my hometown--of course they all are made up

hi, I do get lot of inspiration by the way the question are asked, I feel like writing an article for most of the questions as article subjects, but some how I think I am suffering from writers block when I feel to write an article some how I am unable to do it. But inspiration and ideas fire up on looking at the the discussions. That's true, would like to read your articles. Do you have a link in your profile page. Happy Mylotting Calpro

Hi! Thank you for responding. As a matter of fact, I do have a link to my articles. MOstly on Helium, though if you want to read more from me, you can also visit my blog (also linked in my profile ) But back to the topic. I think I know what you mean. Sometimes, no matter how inspired you are, the words just don't want to cooperate with you. I sometimes stare at an empty word document, knowing well what I want to write about, but unable to make it good...
