So I moved up to Banff Alberta because I got a really good position and wanted to travel. I've only been here a month and a half and its been terrible. Mostly its been terrible because of my job. I gave my one month notice and am meant to move up to the Yukon in January to work for a few months. More travel and work. However now that I don't care about my job in Banff I've been enjoying it a lot more. Now that I'm finally making friends I'm wondering if i should try to find a job here and stay. What do you guys think?

It sounds like you need to decide what you want out of life. One of the dangers you will run into is you will end up getting entry level jobs and not advance in a career. Most of the people I know are satisfied with their job, a few truly love what they are doing and a few hate it and are miserable. I have worked with young people and have always told them to find a job that will pay them to do what they love and they will never feel like they are working. Most end up getting a job that is OK but it gives them the money and resources to do what they love to do. Right now I am retired and working three part time jobs. Two of the jobs I am working so that I can make enough money to provide the extras I want and the third job is doing what I love, being a sports photographer, and it provides me with enough money to buy a few extras. now I am working part time and have the time to do what I want and I live in an area I like. I hope you can find the right job in the right place.

thank you for your words of advice. Neither job is one that I really want long term. I'm just working to support myself while I travel around and explore. I'm also trying to save up for a big trip to south america. In a few years time I'm going to go back to school to get a real career.

Have you accepted the job in the Yukon? If so, fulfill your obligation. I don't think it's going to look very good on your resume' if you keep taking jobs then quitting. You'll get a reputation of being undependable.

Its a little hard to develop a reputation for being undependable when the employers are in different provinces. besides I'm too old to put up with bad treatment. sometimes stuff just doesn't work out. I have accepted the job in the yukon and I probably will go but this means I'm backing out of a 6 month lease... so I'll probably loose my damage deposit.

If it's only the job you don't like I would try to find a different job and stay a little longer. You made new friends already so you should give it another chance.

if you are comfortable where you are now and people are sweet to you and you think you will be happier there just stay there^^ anyway follow your heart and what makes you happy^^ i understand that money is important but also is important that we work in something that make us happy with people that are nice to us. so i understand that you dont want to travel again and want to stay there so do that if you feel is the right thing to do and what will make you happy^^

I also experienced this kind of thing. If you feel like you want to stay, then stay. But if not, then go. Your choice is really that matters. :D

That reminds me off a time that I was in Australia. I was in Cairns and I had been working for a charity dressing up as a Koala. Then it came to the time I was going to fly on to Darwin on the next leg of my journey. Funnily my friends ended up getting to me to stay. I phoned the airline and re-booked my date on onward travel. I stayed another month then bought a train ticket to Brisbane. My intention was to go back to Sydney. On that train I met a man and we really got on well. A year later we got married and our marriage lasted six years. I guess it is wonderful you have made friends in Banff and it might be that you will stay there longer. Good luck deciding.

That is the way is usually goes. I think you will make friends anywhere you go, but naturally this has to be your own choice. Travel is good, but friends are even better.

In my opinion that you should leave the position ,for i know that doing a dislike work or work in a dislike place is really a boring thing . But before you leave you should make sure that you have found another work ,in case that you abdicate the office but you haven't got one ,so you may live a life without no salary ,which may sent you in an embarrass place ! May you happy everyday !
