Which laptop one should buy in the sub 800 dollars budget ?

I have been planning to get a laptop in the range of 700 to 800 dollars from USA. Which is the brand of laptop which i should prefer ?
I have planned to get a HP PAVILION DM4 which is 14 inch ,ultra-portable,500 GB HDD,4GB RAM and is a great looker.
What do you think guys? Any suggestions ?
Any other brand of laptops ? Which models should i look for ?

I have been using a Toshiba satellite laptop for some years now. I am very happy with it. Runs well, and have no glitches. Since I have to travel a lot on my business trips, I need a laptop. The Toshiba satellite has been perfect, light weight, slim, and easy to pack and carry along.

HP is the best company providing laptops.But the problem is that they lack some services,they don't give you an extended warranty.But DELL has equally competitive laptops to HP and it is the best in terms of services.They will give you warranty extension with physical damages,even you break it they will change it,they will come to your place and do service.But if you want to take it from my experience please buy DELL laptop.because i bought an HP laptop and feeling for it with worst service i have seen.Please do not buy HP laptops if you don't want to waste your money...

But i think dell makes the best laptops as they have a solid body and looks better than laptops of other brands like dell.
Just take the case of the newDell xps 14 or 15.They look the same like an inspiron. They should have made the lid more attractive. But i would agree with you that dell is a nice and good brand that offer laptops at a good price point.
I prefer HP or APPLE . Sony vaio's are unreasonably expensive.

I have been dealing in laptops for many years, stick with the HP, Dell have reliability problems and the build quality is not as good
