Justice in our country

With so many blatant injustice in our country, can we still have faith in the Philippine Legal System? I honestly don't believe in our legal system anymore, it seems that justice here are really only just for the more powerful, it used to be only for the rich but as we can see in the Maguindanao Massacre case, both families are rich but the other is only more powerful...and many more instances that I just shake my head and pray that God may give them their just reward for their misdeeds and the victims to be comforted and be able to cope with losing the people they love/their dignity/the justice... Do you also feel the same way?

Justice here is slow. As for the Ampatuans, oh my goodness gracious! There are so many evidences pointing to them, what-is-going-on-and-why-cant-they-strike-the-gavel-guilty! Eewwwrrr! Sometimes i think, whats the use of becoming a lawyer when no one gets convicted guilty, when no case ever gets closed?

To get rich? hmmn, I have friends who are law students that are very idealistic but I doubt that they will retain them when they are already practicing the law...sigh...

Justice as in all other matters are prone to be tainted with political influences in many third world countries. When already the circumstances of position and economic status are unequal, injustice is even more weighted against the helpless poor whose voices find no impact on the law of the country. The only one who has the upper hand is always the influential people. This simply underlines the weakness of human beings which directly undermine the noble legal profession.

Well, you can freely blame our political leaders for that. My professor once said that our country doesn't need any new or drastic laws. What our country (and our system) needs is how to reinforce properly the existing laws we have. And in that reinforcement, political will is a powerful factor. Since our leaders are regrettably human (and consistently show the bad side of being one), it is impossible to fully carry out the law. Politicians rise in power because they know to deal and manipulate other people for their own benefit. Any threat to their status or plans will most likely manifest in some show of violence and power. In a nutshell, the system is the problem and some promising persons get tangled, sucked in and trapped in the system so much that they forget the meaning of public service and enforce personal service in the expense of the people. Frankly, every country in the world has this problem. The only thing worst is that in our country, the worst is still yet to come.
